Kids can make poor decisions all the time, but dealing with ones with an obnoxious Karen mom who enables them makes them insufferable. That said, a woman in Illinois was driving her car through an intersection in a neighborhood when two teens came barreling in on their rental scooters. Despite the driver having the right of way, the two children ran the stop sign and smashed into her car, busting up the passenger side of the windshield and the door. When the woman went out to check on the kids, she had an unwelcome surprise.
The older of the two teens screamed at the driver, calling her a “bi**h” before running off to grab his mom from a nearby house. The Karen quickly emerged and immediately sided with her children, calling the driver obscene names. Although the two children weren’t severely injured, the mom called an ambulance to haul them off to the ER. Another neighbor later came out and shared video footage of the whole accident, which clearly showed the children were at fault. Regardless, the Karen mom looked like she was ready to take legal action.
“You could tell she was foaming at the mouth to sue,” OP wrote in a Reddit post. OP, the husband of the driver, claims that the minors were under the age of 15, which means that they were illegally riding around the Lime rental scooters they were on during the accident. “We really think the mom wants to sue us. What does that process look like? Would we have enough evidence to countersue?” Dealing with Karen moms who enable bad behavior is a scary thought, so the spouse has taken to Reddit to ask what the couple should do.
“File on your insurance and they’ll go after the kid’s parent’s renters/homeowners if there is any,” remarks the top comment. “Your insurance handles it,” seconds another. “Seems like they were just being idiot teenagers,” they add. Plenty more commenters state that the couple’s insurance company should be able to take care of all the legalities with the case, if things escalate to the police. Thankfully, the video footage the other neighbor provided will prove to be solid evidence of the children being at fault.
“Cases like this are exactly why dashcams are necessary,” comments a user. If that neighbor wasn’t there to offer the video evidence, having a defense against the teens and Karen mom’s accusation would possibly be a challenge. Never neglect the power of video evidence for legal protection!
