Uber Black services tend to be high-end vehicles that can be used in business situations or for an expensive night out. In fact, Uber’s website refers to an entire fleet of vehicles constitutes an eligible ride for those who request. One woman in Georgia was less than impressed when she requested a vehicle for her special day, only to get a brand that’s been ridiculed lately. She took to TikTok to detail the experience, and many viewers shared in her misery.
Podcast host Mariah Rose (@mariahoffduty on TikTok) was feeling frustrated when she requested an Uber Black vehicle to the airport. Mariah felt like the choice of vehicle that came for her was mediocre at best when the driver arrived in a red Tesla. Mariah stated to her viewers, “Hey, Uber, diva. When I send for an Uber Black, I’m not referring to a Tesla.” Uber’s website shows that Tesla models are, indeed, available for Uber Black services. These include various years of the Model 3, Model S, Model X, and Model Y.
Mariah expected something along the lines of a Cadillac, BMW, or Bentley—not a Tesla. She went on to say, “I expect that sort of treatment when I call an Uber Comfort. When I call an Uber Black, I am sending for a certain caliber of vehicle.”
Viewers were split on how to feel about the situation but typically agreed premium pay means premium vehicle. One viewer remarked on her experience, “A red Tesla??? Not them sending you a MAGA mobile.” Another asked, “If my Uber Black is not a Mercedes, Audi, BMW, or a Cadillac, why did you pick me up?”
Tesla has seen its fair share of drama over recent months due to the political climate, Many individuals choosing to trade in their vehicles and sales phenomenally plunging. Additionally, Tesla and Uber have worked together for years to make a push toward putting electric vehicles on the road.
However, Uber customers have been boycotting this move for years and have even suggested that Uber make it so Tesla vehicles cannot be used with Uber services. Nobody knows what the future will hold for Tesla as a whole or its connection to Uber.
