The protests against ICE have been on the rise recently as more violence takes over the country. Despite the backlash, ICE don’t intend to stop their brutal kidnappings anytime soon. The violence they use against protesters is also reflected in how they treat their victims. This reached a point where they don’t even care if they are dealing with a child or an elderly person. Just recently, an ICE agent in California decided to body-slam an old man who wasn’t even doing anything wrong. The force used by the agent shows you how terrible these people behave. What was the danger that an elderly man carried? Nothing.
A video of the California attack showed the ICE agent running across a parking lot until he reached his victim. He then proceeds to body-slam the man to the ground. It doesn’t stop at this. The agent’s next move was to forcibly move the elderly man’s arms behind his back. You can clearly see how hard he is gripping him. Some people assumed that the victim was running away (not that this would justify ICE’s behavior), but he wasn’t. He doesn’t even look behind him to see the agent. A truck was nearing the older man, and he accelerated to avoid it. That’s it.
People Reacting to the California Attack
Just like with most ICE arrests, people were left furious. The person who shared the video commented, “These animals aren’t doing good faith policing. That slam was done with hate.” With the kind of force used by the agent against the California man, you can see how unnecessarily brutal it was. Someone else called ICE a name that has been spreading recently as they wrote, “F**king Nazis.” Another person described the attack as “disgusting.” When one person said, “He wasn’t even running!!! This is pure demonic behavior!” someone tried to justify what happened by saying, “Yes he was running. He just wasn’t trying to get hit by a truck.” So he should have stood still and let the truck hit him?
Since the protests in Los Angeles caused ICE to let the LAPD intervene, one Redditor called them cowards. “They act like tough guys attacking people alone but run and hide behind lapd when they see the city out protesting against them,” they wrote. Someone else accused the agents of making such brutal arrests to get bonuses: “These ‘ICE’ mother f**kers are running to make their numbers for bonuses. That is what they are all about. Like Bounty Hunters.”
Even Trump was brought into the conversation as one person said, “Remember how Trump kept campaigning saying the US was becoming 3rd world nation? He wants the US to become a 3rd world nation.” While someone else wrote, “F**k Trump for bringing this to our streets.” Now, the California attack is just one of many examples of how low ICE can go. We can only hope that the old man will be alright.
