Today, Brian Wilson, The Beach Boys’ singer and co-founder, died at the age of 82. This is quite shocking, as Wilson had one of the most unique and soothing voices out there, and alongside The Beach Boys, delivered some of the most unforgettable songs in the ’60s. Wilson’s family announced his passing this morning. “We are heartbroken to announce that our beloved father Brian Wilson has passed away.” The family has asked the media to respect their privacy as they go through these difficult times. Furthermore, they didn’t disclose Wilson’s cause of death.

As you may know, Brian Wilson co-founded The Beach Boys in 1961 alongside his brothers Dennis and Carl. This rock band went on to become one of the most famous of that decade and even beyond, with hit songs such as Wouldn’t It Be Nice and Good Vibrations.

The Beach Boys gained worldwide acclaim by selling over 100 million records and becoming one of the most influential rock bands ever. The five original members were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988.

As you can imagine, this impacted a lot of people across the world, with many sharing their reactions to this sad news.

“He gave us the sound of innocence, the ache of longing, and the harmony of hope. Today, the world is quieter without him. Thank you for the music, Brian.” – Eric Alper via X.

“An American icon. He changed the landscape of an entire genre while creating his own, and made every living artist up their game. He made you feel a season.” – Danny Deraney via X.
