No Kings Day was, by and large, a massive success across the nation. Massive protests in cities large and small across America stood in pretty open defiance to Trump’s military birthday parade. The protest, unfortunately, had victims, none more notable and shocking than the absolutely bold and wild assassinations of former Minnesota Democratic lawmaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark. Senator John Hoffman and his wife Yvette somehow survived, albeit in grave condition. The alleged shooter, Vance Boelter, has been arrested after a massive manhunt.
In pictures posted by NBC News and on Reddit in the PublicFreakout page by user JeanJauresJr, an entire brigade can be seen escorting the police who have Vance Boelter in custody. Police have since detailed his arrest. Upon investigating Melissa Hortman’s home, they came upon the suspect, who then engaged the suspect in a shootout, which caused him to flee and ultimately aided in his eventual capture.
The police superintendent said the following.
If that had not happened, I have every confidence that this would have continued throughout the day.
Many folks on the Reddit page had a lot to say after the shocking events and eventual arrest of Vance.
“He had help.”
“my kingdom to live in precedented times. I swear it’s like every other day some goober does something gooberish.”
“Domestic Republican terrorist. Or just a Republican at this point. Even Republican Senators are joking or OK with joking about this callous shooting.”
“My theory is he was trying to get back to his house to kill himself. He left 5 firearms at the scene of the second shooting when he was confronted by police.”
“They picked up his wife in a car with other family members. Car had weapons, ammo and several passports in there. She was likely on her way to meet up with him to get them out of the country.”
“Actually he was a Democrat is their biggest tell for whatever is happening is too horrible even for them to justify. They did the same thing with that crazy right wing kid that shot at Trump”
The anger, as you can imagine, is extremely liberal leaning, as the narrative about the shooter’s political affiliation will only become more heated and dramatic as the investigation continues. The suspect’s wife was also arrested with passports, weapons, and cash, so she doesn’t seem innocent in this incident either.
