Subaru Dealership in Florida Scams Buyers With Non-negotiable ‘Pro Package Plan,’ but Customers Have the Perfect Payback: Become ‘Their Worst Nightmare’

Car dealerships often have some scammy plans up their sleeves, from extra unnecessary features to pointless services that most would never use. A Subaru dealership in Gainesville, Florida, offers the familiar non-negotiable package for $400, and a recent buyer is mildly infuriated that they couldn’t remove it. Posting to Reddit, the customer shows a photo of the “Pro Package Plan,” listing all the rather meaningless features of this extra fee. However, the post’s comment section is packed with users and other car purchasers who know exactly how to get the best form of revenge.

“I would use the car wash over and over and over until they refunded me,” laughs the top commenter. The Subaru dealership stated in writing that it offers a lifetime of no-appointment car wash and vacuuming services. That said, thousands of Reddit users agreed that they would abuse the package’s offer to the fullest extent until the salespeople regretted it. “I’d be in every day I could,” a replier jokes. Several more claimed they’d be washing their car every morning, evening, and even during lunch breaks. “After each wash, I’d drive around the block and pull back into the dealership for another one,” chuckles another user.

Since the Subaru dealership also offered free vehicle diagnostic checkups as part of its unremovable package, Redditors clamored to take advantage of that perk as well. “‘Hey, while I’m here, can you guys run a diagnostic? Something sounds weird…’ [I would do that] Literally every time you’re there for a car wash,” a user jokes. Of course, the workers at the business would doubtless be annoyed, but who’s to say that such scammy practices shouldn’t be punished in the car sales industry? You got to get your money’s worth, after all!

There were several commenters who also criticized OP for complaining about the package deal being unremovable, as they could have simply not signed the contract for said deal. Simply put, no one is forcing them to do business with the dealership in the first place. That might be true, but the fact that so many dealerships do this in the first place is the whole point of the post. Some people advise arguing with the dealer with the demand to remove the package before anything is signed — which is also a solid option.
