Based on the current political climate, so many individuals have a lack of faith in those who are running our country. One of those people includes former Florida U.S. representative Matt Gaetz, who was initially President Donald Trump’s attorney general pick but never received the votes he needed. Still, the host of The Matt Gaetz Show remains in contact with Trump. We now know their relationship a little better thanks to some texts that went viral on TikTok between none other than Matt and his mommy.
TikToker @tidesofmarch caught the moment, captioned: “POV: You’re sitting behind Matt Gaetz and he’s texting his mommy” in a true but satirical post. Ultimately, it made Matt look especially infantile (and I love it). The back-and-forth phone conversation spills the beans on family matters and Matt’s attempts to sway Trump when it comes to the current world climate. Allegedly, Matt believes that he has been “guiding” Trump against the U.S. getting involved in a war with Iran and Israel.
Matt can be seen saying in the conversation with his mom, “I’m trying to guide him, not criticize him. But I’ve never been freer to share my views – and I’ll continue to do so.” He then goes on to say, “I think about the people who cheered the Iraq war because they liked Bush. Those people have blood on their hands.”
At one point in the text conversation, his mom states, “He’s trying to keep us safe. That’s his job. MAGA will turn on you. You will lose viewership. Your days in congress are over, practice of law? Let’s not mess up the media gig. The president has been a very good friend to you. He hates betrayal. Be smart, not stubborn.” These are some pretty big emotions and obviously something they have spoken about in length in the past.
By the sounds of it, Matt’s mom tries to have big influence over his life, though it may or may not be reciprocated. Matt tries to assure her, “Guiding DJT always includes a private and public component. I know how to do it.” He even shares information about having a son on the way, “$500k in my bank account,” and says, “I guess I’ll keep hitting it till I die.”
Matt has since spoken out about the TikTok and tried to face it with humor but we know he’s secretly crumbling inside over the cringe reveal. He stated, “They found me texting my mother about news of the day, family finances, and working on my laptop. Please let this be a reminder to everyone to CALL YOUR MOTHER! (and maybe get a screen protector).”
All of this comes after Matt spoke publicly on his show about Trump’s pro-Israel friends and how they are trying to “pressure” him into all-out war with Iran by sending out more airstrikes. He said on the matter, “On this program, we strongly disagree with that assessment and that advice. President Trump should reject it.” I just wonder how the President himself feels about all of this and would love to hear his opinions on the matter to know if they align with Matt’s views.
