In a statement released by Madsen’s representatives, they paid tribute to the actor, saying, “In the last two years, Michael Madsen has been doing some incredible work with independent film, including upcoming feature films Resurrection Road, Concessions, and Cookbook for Southern Housewives. He was really looking forward to this next chapter in his life.” His manager, Ron Smith, confirmed to the Daily Mail that Madsen died from cardiac arrest.

The actor is best remembered for his frequent collaborations with director Quentin Tarantino, where he cemented his status as one of Hollywood’s most iconic figures. Madsen’s standout roles include his portrayal of Mr. Blonde in Reservoir Dogs (1992), Budd in Kill Bill: Volume 2 (2004), and his appearances in The Hateful Eight (2015) and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019). He also starred as Sonny Black in Donnie Brasco (1997).

Michael Madsen’s Death Follows Controversial Domestic Violence Case Dismissal Last Year

Madsen’s death comes 11 months after a domestic violence case involving his wife, DeAnna. The actor was accused of shoving his spouse and allegedly locking her out of their Los Angeles-area home. A representative for the star released a statement following the incident, saying, “It was a disagreement between Michael and his wife, which we hope resolves positively for them both.” The incident led to Madsen’s arrest, and he spent part of a weekend in jail before posting a $20,000 bond.

The charges, which included misdemeanor domestic violence and claims of physical altercations, were dismissed due to insufficient evidence. At the time, Madsen’s representative expressed relief, stating, “We are thrilled that Michael Madsen is able to put this behind him and look forward to our continued collaboration with more great things coming from this veteran and respected actor.”

Madsen’s passing comes with a profound personal loss. He is survived by his five children, including his son, Hudson, who tragically died by suicide in 2022 at the age of 26. Michael Madsen’s legacy will forever be marked by his undeniable talent and his contributions to the film industry, leaving a lasting impact on both fans and peers alike.
