ICE has taken the country by storm, and most liberal strongholds, such as Portland, Oregon, have seen more than their fair share of activity involving the much-maligned agency. While many Americans were having a great Fourth of July holiday weekend, some innocent folks in Portland were not. They spent most of their weekend dealing with paramilitary ICE agents doing illegal raids on apartments, and it was caught on video.
In the video footage, posted by user CantStopPoppin on the EyesonIce Reddit page, heavily armed agents are seen arresting a man before a bunch of civilians start appearing on the streets late at night and challenging the agents and questioning their motives. A woman shouts, “They are innocent people, they are not criminals”, and ICE starts walking back as they can be seen arresting people who live in a particular apartment complex downtown.
There’s never a reason given for the raids, or why they required such heavily armed forces, but their arriving late at night with full masks and pulling unarmed people out of an apartment complex is a scary sight. Folks on the page had plenty to say about the incident.
“Who cares. they are fascists.”
“We should assume they are not until they each prove otherwise. In fact, there’s a high likelihood many of these folks are hired bounty hunters that have criminal records themselves – they could even be gang members, or members of MS13 (which the DOJ just dropped charges against…).”
“This is nothing yet. ICE had its budget increased by 10 times in the new budget which includes even more detention centers. This is just a small precursor.”
“No one is stopping them from doing this. So no one will stop them when they come for you.”
As you can see, even during a holiday weekend, you can never be too careful, as ICE is always on the prowl.
