California Pokemon Brawl Ends in Stabbing: ‘F—Ing Scum’

This isn’t how you play Pokémon

California Pokemon brawl breaks out after heated card game incident

The Pokémon Trading Card Game has only grown in popularity since its launch. However, with cards fetching a heavy price online for resellers, sometimes they can be hard to come by at any store. This seemed to be the case after a few California men were seen having their own kind of Pokémon battle outside of a GameStop. A video was then posted to Reddit showing the moments leading up to the fight, as well as some of the fight itself.

Two guys cut the line at a GameStop in Colma, CA. One used a mason jar, super effective, then stabbed with the shards. All for a shot at evolving into a felon.

In the Reddit video, viewers can see a group of people standing outside a store. However, things quickly get heated after a lot of trash-talking and some shoving occurs. The video’s caption explains that two of the men had allegedly cut in line inside the GameStop in order to get their cards faster. The third man obviously did not care for their behavior, and they took things outside. The incident occurred in Colma, California, and was resolved by the corresponding police department.

California Man Stabbed Over The Pokémon Trading Card Game

According to KTVU, there were reports of a fight, as well as a California native with multiple cuts and stab wounds. The injured man was taken to the hospital with “life-threatening injuries.” However, the victim is said to be in stable condition currently. The two men who had cut the line had reportedly fled the scene after the fight, and before law enforcement could arrive at the scene.

They were said to have taken two different vehicles as well. However, the victim was able to snag photos as well as the license plate numbers of both cars. Social media has not taken too kindly to the two Pokémon trainers who assaulted this man after cutting in line. One even calmed the two, “F—ing scum.”

Despite their quick escape, officers were able to track down both suspects fairly quickly. One man was found less than half a mile away. The other was located in Daly City. The two were arrested and later identified as 27-year-old Isaiah Calles and 49-year-old Miguel Orellanas-Flores. Both men are from San Francisco. Police confirm the violence started when Miguel struck the victim in the back of the head with a mason jar. However, it is unknown if the two suspects knew each other beforehand.

Both California Pokémon enthusiasts were arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, among other charges. While emotions can rise in situations like this, violence is really never the answer. Hopefully, the victim can continue to make a strong recovery. However, as for the line-cutters, maybe just wait for your turn next time.
