The USA hasn’t been doing so hot lately. We’ve seen racist situations going rampant around the country, and a lot of violent things happening almost daily. While these incidents are certainly sad to witness and almost unavoidable in public, they are even more shocking when they occur inside schools. Recently, a mother from Clayton County, Georgia, shared a video of her son, who recorded his teacher saying that women should not be educated. Fortunately, it seems the mother has already reached out to the school’s principal about this sexist teacher, so we hope his “teaching” days are numbered.
The TikTok user shared a video her son recorded, showing the teacher asking the class what they think about women receiving education. He even asks, “Don’t you think that was the worst thing ever to happen when we started educating women?” You can hear the reactions of many students as they respond awkwardly to the question. The teacher asks if it was either good or bad to educate women. Some students answer, “Good.” However, the teacher then questions those who said good. Here, you can see the one who recorded the video shake his head at the teacher’s actions and statements.
After a while, one student also says that it was bad to educate women. The teacher asks, “Why?” But the student says, “I don’t know,” to which the teacher replies, “So this is a man’s world.” Some in the classroom start feeling uncomfortable with the question, and at one point, the one in charge of the class says, “You let women know too much, they’ll boss you around.”
One female student in the background tries to stand up to the sexist high school teacher and says how it takes two right angles, and says how men can’t produce babies. But the teacher goes on to reply that men are producers of control, and how he (the teacher) doesn’t want his wife to know anything.
In the end, the teacher says this is only his opinion, and that he has to tell students that women deserve the same education. However, it’s a little too late because he already said many rude and sexist things to all his class.
As you can imagine, people were furious after seeing this video and shared their opinions online.
“I’m curious what grades he’s giving the females versus the males in his classes.” Commented one person.
“Those poor girls in that class.” Said another user.
We can all agree that this behavior is unacceptable in any place, especially in a school. Fortunately, the mother has already contacted the principal, so we can only hope this teacher won’t stand in front of these students or any other, for that matter, again.
