A lot of people aren’t exactly fond of the police, and it’s fairly understandable to have some wariness when dealing with officers. Still, it’s generally a good idea to stay cooperative and avoid showing unnecessary aggression. One Arizona man clearly didn’t agree, as he decided that being openly hostile toward a cop was the right call. In a video uploaded to Reddit, the confrontation unfolds. It seems the man was pulled over after breaking some traffic rules. Rather than cooperating, he immediately became aggressive. He repeatedly called the officer a “b***h,” yelled “f*** your mother,” and told him to get out of his face.
The cop tried to stay calm and asked the man to hand over his ID. The Arizona man told him to shut up and added another curse word. When he finally pulled out his ID, he just held it in his hand for a few seconds before putting it away again.
He started pacing around in an agitated, erratic way and eventually crossed his arms, declaring that the stop was illegal. The officer, still trying to keep things civil, asked for his insurance. That’s when the Arizona man raised his voice and shouted, “Back the f*** up!”
As the situation escalated, the officer gave him a light push to keep some distance. But the man didn’t back off. He kept moving toward the officer, shouting and swearing until things hit a boiling point when he punched the cop in the face.
A scuffle broke out. The officer managed to take the man down and handcuff him. During the fight, a passerby even stepped in to help the officer by trying to pull the man away. Fortunately, the officer was able to subdue the suspect and bring the situation under control.
Many internet users who saw the video found the Arizona man’s behavior more hilarious than intimidating. His shouting and aggressive actions didn’t impress anyone. In fact, many saw him as a clown who couldn’t control his emotions. One Redditor simply commented, “Roid rage, lol.”
Others pointed out how lucky the man was that the officer stayed calm. Several users remarked that if he had confronted a more aggressive or trigger-happy cop, he might have been shot at the first sign of hostility. One user wrote, “This cop is a G for squaring up with this roid monster. Also shout out to the good Samaritan for stepping in to help.”
Many praised the officer for his restraint and professionalism. Unlike most news stories involving police encounters, people didn’t place any blame on the cop at all. The aggressive Arizona man received nearly all of the criticism.
