Even though water fountains are incredibly useful, as they provide a readily available source of clean water to thirsty passersby while also potentially reducing plastic waste, there are rare incidents that may put some people off. After all, as they’re typically used by the public at large, the water fountain’s spout can become contaminated with bacteria, though it’s worth noting that the risk of catching a disease is extremely low. Recently, a San Diego man was caught urinating in the public water fountain in Price Center, near the heart of UC San Diego’s campus, and due to his disorderly conduct, he was arrested shortly after.
The footage, which was posted earlier today to r/UCSD, shows the man stood near the water fountain in the Price Center, and due to his posture and stance, it appears that he is urinating into it. Sporting a grey jumper and baggy black track suit pants, the man’s trousers have been lowered slightly so that he can do the heinous deed.
For a split second, you can see the man’s bearded face, and it looks like he could be a homeless person who is desperate to use the rest room. As he turns around, however, the clip ends. Below the footage is the brief snippet of context: “Today at price“
Due to the man’s unusual behavior and the unsanitary nature of the clip, local residents and students dived into the comments to share their thoughts. One local noted, “My roommate drank from there before. Also the bathroom is not that far from there, he could have walked like a few meters to the f*cking bathroom” while the OP replied to this with, “That’s what p*ssed me off the most, I wouldn’t have called the cops if he just urinated on the floor instead.” Meanwhile, the most up-voted comment read, “Oh dear god…traumatized for life now.”
As to what happened to the man at the heart of the drama, the OP clarified to a commenter asking when it happened, “Today around 5, called UCPD and he got arrested“. While it’s unclear what the specific charge was for, it’s likely that the man was arrested for either disorderly conduct, public indecency, pubic intoxication, or vandalism.
