It’s reasonable that some people are afraid of planes and flying. This is because accidents while flying can unfortunately happen. Sometimes, flights can end terribly for both passengers and staff. This could have occurred when a flight in Denver caught fire just before takeoff. It has been reported that a landing gear incident occurred, resulting in a fire and a significant amount of smoke. In a video filmed of the incident, you can see two slides put outside the plane so passengers can evacuate it. The scene itself is scary, especially since they are exiting the plane amidst the smoke. You can’t help but feel worried for everyone involved, especially those who have kids with them. Several people were able to leave the airplane safely, but others weren’t as lucky because some fell while trying to land.
While there is sympathy toward those involved, it is kind of infuriating how the passengers didn’t let go of their bags. A lot of them had their bags with them while exiting, which makes things even more dangerous. One father had a large bag with him and was carrying his kid as well, and they ended up falling because of the bag. If your son wasn’t injured because of the plane, then he is now injured because you refused to let go of your bag. It’s an emergency, so you would expect people to only think of themselves and their families. Thankfully, though, not a lot of people were injured. CBS News reported that the airline said, “One person was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.” The Denver Fire Department also managed to extinguish the fire after they were called to the scene.
People Reacting to the Denver Flight Scare
While people sympathized with the terrified Denver passengers, they also blamed those who chose to bring along their bags. They didn’t just endanger themselves, but others as well. This made someone write, “Leave your bags.” Another person wrote in frustration, “People comin out with whole ass carry-on from the overhead. Ffs.” There was also one person who tried to look at the situation from the passengers’ perspective. “I kind of understand why people were bringing small personal items with them,” they said. Not everyone was understanding though. Others even started calling those involved names. “Imagine you’re in a plane on fire and you die cause people decided to block the way while they get their f**king luggage from the overhead compartments. These things should be locked during the flight and only be opened by the crew upon request,” one person wrote.
There was also someone who was disappointed with how the father who fell acted. “To the father who chose not to let go of his bag and bounce the back of his kid’s head off the concrete: Priorities, homie. The bag is not one of them. Let it go,” they advised. Well, they have definitely got a point. Plus, the kid started crying after the fall; he was probably hurt. Some people shared that they would have resorted to violence if they were part of the Denver flight. “I can’t describe what would happen if someone was blocking me from the emergency exit to grab their bag,” one person wrote. Someone else replied and said, “I’d be stabbing them with my nail clippers that I smuggled in for this very purpose.” What matters is that everyone was safe at the end.
