Deliberately calling 911 or ICE on someone to have them deported or imprisoned based on mere prejudice is never a good thing, because that’s racism, and that’s what happened to one Hispanic woman in Atlanta, Georgia. The Hispanic woman was merely shopping at Goodwill, speaking Spanish, when a Black woman decided to confront her, saying, “In America, we speak English,” then calling 911 and reporting her as an illegal. In truth, the Hispanic woman is a legitimate US citizen, born and raised. Here’s the clip:
The video was captured and posted by TikTok user Marina Fisher, who is now criticizing the Black woman identified as Betty Jones, a retiree from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Fisher, despite saying she speaks English and is a legitimate US citizen, was ignored as Jones then proceeded to call 911, falsely reporting whom she assumed to be an illegal immigrant.
“I got attacked in the Goodwill for speaking Spanish. I was minding my own business and she came up to attack me even threaten to hit me with something. More was said but I accidently stopped recording. I told her I wasn’t illegal and I feel sorry for those who can’t defend themselves, but I can and it’s wrong of her to profile people,” according to Marina Fisher
It’s not clear what caused Jones’ breakdown over a woman speaking Spanish, but further testimony from Marina Fisher alleged that Jones, the Black Karen, said she was happy that she voted for Trump. Sadly, Fisher accidentally cut off the recording when Jones said this statement.
And despite being a former educator, sadly, Jones earned the ire and criticism from her fellow Black community members since she didn’t seem to learn anything from her ancestors’ struggles. Jones was quickly tracked on LinkedIn, and due to the overwhelming outrage, the former education consultant had to take her LinkedIn profile down.
The Irony of Jones’ Prejudice
Thankfully, it appears a significant number of people from the Black community rallied in support of Marina Fisher. Some also pointed out the irony of Jones’ stance and actions, since people swear that Trump hates her as much as she hates the Hispanic woman she accused at Goodwill.
Many Black people in Marina Fisher’s post have since testified that the Black community is embarrassed by Betty Jones, especially for weaponizing the police against someone who merely spoke a different language. It’s worth noting that Spanish is the 2nd most spoken language in the US and is actually being widely taught in US schools, something Betty Jones should’ve known since she’s an education consultant. Hence, the scathing comments:

Sadly, the angry people at Marina Fisher’s post, hoping to get Betty Jones fired, were disappointed to learn that she’s already retired, though they’re also thankful that Jones is no longer working in the education sector. Meanwhile, Marina Fisher appears to be safe and still continues to receive support from people regardless of their skin color.
