New York Delta Air Lines Loses Woman’s Passport, Won’t Own Up to It, ‘The Condescending Tone is Frying Me’

Passports aren’t cheap

Most people just want to get from point A to point B with ease when they’re flying to a new destination. Unfortunately, a slip-up at the airport can quickly put a halt on any plans to travel. A woman in New York recently experienced Delta Air Lines pulling a disappearing trick on her passport when she handed it over to a staff member. Afterward, they made it feel like it was her fault that the passport went missing in the first place.

Nouna (@nounadiaries on TikTok) posted the video with the caption “DELTA lost my passport.” In the video, Nouna starts speaking by saying, “You cannot lose my passport and speak to me this way,” while a condescending staff member in the background claims they didn’t lose it as she gesticulates with a pen in her hand. The staff member says she felt “verbally attacked” by Nouna and she was responding with the same energy. Nouna, however, claims the staff agent only apologized to her once she started recording the interaction.

When Nouna then asks, “Can you bring me my passport?” the staff member says, “I need to send somebody to go get it,” even though it was quickly lost after a second staff member took it. Nouna tells her, “When I give an agent my passport, they should keep it like, near them, right?” The condescending agent says in disbelief, “Ma’am, it was near her,” and then the video cuts off.

Commenters agreed the staff agent didn’t handle the situation well. One person commented, “The passport should never leave your sight. They’re being shady. I’m with you.” Another person said, “The condescending tone is frying me! Where is the passport?!” They never really give Nouna an answer to why it disappeared in the first place. Another defended Nouna, “She literally has every right to yell and be mad because THEY lost her passport.”

In this type of situation, what would you do and how would you feel? A passport is your one-way ticket to see the world and also your way to get back home. Not to mention replacing them isn’t cheap.

One commenter summed this up with, “Her mistake can make someone be stuck in a country that they aren’t familiar with for weeks. They can’t leave the country till they have a passport. So no you can’t just simply say that she made a mistake. Mistakes won’t happen if you’re vigilant and extra careful.” And why did the passport leave the desk in the first place? Here’s to hoping Nouna stuck it to Delta Air Lines and got where she needed to be!
