The Solstice 2025 event has kicked off in Destiny 2, and you know what that means: new armor, weapons, a lot of scorching events, and many things to collect. However, things have changed with the addition of the new Portal system, which might make things a bit confusing even for some veteran players. If that’s the case for you, we’ve created a guide with everything you need to know about this event, including the quest, currencies, weapons, and more.

How To Start the Solstice 2025 Event in Destiny 2

To start the Solstice 2025 event in Destiny 2, you can either do it from the Portal or by speaking with Eva Levante in The Tower. You don’t need to do the latter to start gathering currency or rewards, though. Speaking with Eva will only unlock the quest, which is also pretty helpful if you want to get more currency or understand some of the systems in the game. If you need it, here’s a walkthrough of the “Celebrating Solstice” 2025 quest.

Regardless of what you do, you can start getting Solstice Alloy and working on your Rewards Track just by doing the recommended activities, which are mostly Portal Activities (Solo, Fireteam Ops, etc) or by queuing for the limited-time Scorched Crucible Mode. If you just want to gather as much Alloy as possible or get new event ranks, going for Solo activities is your best bet. They have Solstice modifiers that make some of the fights a breeze.

New Solstice 2025 Weapons

While there are three obtainable weapons in the event, only two of them are brand-new. This year, we have a Submachine Gun and a Grenade Launcher. However, the Legendary Bow, Fortunate Star, returns with a few new perks. Here’s the breakdown of each weapon and some possible perks:

  • Yeartide Apex (Solar Submachine Gun)
    • Lightweight Frame (Intrinsic Trait): Superb handling. Move faster with this weapon equipped.
    • Dream Work (Origin Trait): Once per reload, assists or assisted final blows partially refill the weapon from reserves and increase reload speed for a short time. Bows receive faster draw time.
    • Tex Balanced Stock (Origin Trait): Damaging targets while firing from the hip increases handling, reload speed, and movement speed while aiming down sights.
  • Festival Flight (Strand Grenade Launcher)
    • Area Denial Frame (Intrinsic Trait): Burst fire Grenade Launcher. Each projectile creates a lingering pool on impact that deals damage over time.
    • Dream Work (Origin Trait).
    • Suros Synergy (Origin Trait): Reloading grants this weapon bonus handling and reduces incoming flinch for a short time.
  • Fortunate Star (Void Combat Bow)
    • Precision Frame (Intrinsic Trait): Longer draw time optimized for damage.
    • Dream Work (Origin Trait).
    • Veist Stinger (Origin Trait): Damaging an enemy with this weapon has a slight chance to reload the magazine and increase movement speed while aiming down sights. Bows receive faster draw speed, and swords receive faster charge rate while this perk is active.

If you’re going for one of these three weapons, Festival Flight should be the top pick. Area Denial Frame is an excellent Trait for Grenade Launchers, and since we don’t have a lot of them, this one is a must-get.

Armor Sets

As with any other yearly event, Solstice 2025 brings new armor sets you can get in the Eververse store of Destiny 2 and a few others while playing. If you want to grab the Seaside Celebration Set, you’ll need to spend 1,500 Silver or 6,000 Bright Dust. There are also other items you can purchase with Silver, but we’ll do a separate article for them.

If you don’t want to spend your Silver or Bright Dust, however, you can also get the Lustrous Set just by playing the game and gathering Solstice Alloy. You’ll need 100 Solstice Alloy for each armor piece. You can obtain the currency by playing any Portal Activity. When I completed my first Solo Op, I got 30 Solstice Alloy, but you can get even more by participating in Raids and Dungeons, or by playing the limited-time Crucible mode.

In any case, this year’s Solstice event is packed with things to do and, most importantly, has two fantastic weapons that should be great for PvE and PvP. So, if you want to find your next great gun, you should start working for those event Engrams and even gather some armor on the side.
