Ratchet & Clank Collection servers will be discontinued as of February 15, 2018. The multiplayer and online features will be unavailable after this date. This comes as no surprise, as the PS4 has sold millions of consoles since its release.
On the PlayStation website, the only information given is this:
“Online services for Ratchet and Clank: Up your Arsenal PS3 and Ratchet: Deadlocked PS3, including multiplayer and other network features, will be discontinued as of February 15, 2018. Thanks for playing!”
Insomniac Games, the developers of Ratchet and Clank, played on the Arsenal multiplayer on PS3 yesterday for the last time.
Insomniac Games has been working on Marvel’s Spider-Man, which will be released on September 7, 2018. After overall good reviews for Spider-Man Homecoming, it is understandable that Insomniac wants to concentrate on making the game as popular as the movie. The game will also come out a year later than the movie. As well as Marvel’s Spider-Man, which they are working on, they already have a Ratchet and Clank on the PS4 to satisfy anyone who wants to play the classic game.
Ratchet and Clank servers are not the only one that will be closing down this year. Gran Turismo 6 online features will stop on March 28, 2018. While three more series’ are shutting down their online features as well. Killzone 2, Killzone 3, EyePet, EyePet Move Edition, EyePet & Friends, and finally, WipEout HD, WipEout HD Fury, and WipEout 2048 are all the titles that will be shutting down their online features for the PS3.
