Police frequently have confrontations with individuals almost every day, but sometimes, some cops aren’t exactly wise. A Las Vegas police cop who was on his own decided to confront two Black men who turned out to be brothers. The crime? One of them had a shopping cart and was walking on the street instead of using the sidewalk. The officer tries to tell the boy who isn’t involved to step aside and that he wants to talk to his brother. The guy then refuses and starts asking what his brother is suspected of. The officer’s first mistake is not saying what the crime is. This easily made the brothers assume that they were being stopped because they were Black. When the refusal to comply continues, the Las Vegas officer is dumb enough to start attacking the two guys on his own.
When the officer attacks the Las Vegas guy, the guy pushes him to the ground. The two Black brothers then start attacking the cop at the same time. When he manages to push his suspect, the brother picks him up and throws him to the ground. The officer then stands up and starts fighting his suspect again. The brother is also seen asking people nearby “You see this?” which means that he believed they were being treated like this because they were Black. When the two gang up on the officer again, some people park their cars and come to his aid. The officer uses this chance and proceeds to tase his suspect twice. Backup then arrives and they arrest the two brothers.
Honestly, it seems like the officer escalated the entire situation. He didn’t tell them their crime and he was the one to start attacking first. Aside from fighting back, which was a mistake, the two boys were actually respectful and said “Sir” and “Thank you.” Since this arrest was part of a show featuring officers, it seemed like the Las Vegas cop wanted to appear heroic on TV. He is lucky that people stopped to help him because he was definitely losing this fight.
People Reacting to the Las Vegas Arrest
A lot of people believed that the Las Vegas officer was stupid because of how he acted. This made one person say, “Stupid cop. Lucky too.” Another person saw that the cop was filled with ego. “This was so f**king stupid of him. If not for those pedestrians. His ass was going unconscious, and be unable to protect his vehicle, firearm or long gun in the trunk. His ego put everyone at risk,” they wrote. Someone else blamed the officer for not stating why he was stopping the two brothers in the first place. “a simple ‘hey guys, use the sidewalk’ from the window would have prevented this entire thing instead of escalating for the camera,” they added. Despite this, someone was thankful that the officer didn’t use his gun. “Anyone else appreciate the fact that the cop didn’t reach for a weapon and instead squared up?” they asked.
Others sided with the Las Vegas officer and believed that he did nothing wrong in this situation. “Now what did you really do for your brother, you dumb motherf**ker? You got him tased and arrested. With brothers like you, who needs enemies?” one Redditor said. Another person also blamed the brother as they wrote, “It really seemed like the shirtless brother had a disability of some kind and his overbearing, idiot older brother thought he was looking out for him by power tripping with a cop. Really sucks for him, he gets a violent charge never you know a guy like that has to jump in and help his brother even when it’s the worse option for everyone.” No matter who is wrong here, it is definitely a sad situation. As many people said, the cop was very lucky and also quite idiotic.
