Strangers at a Bar Replace Minnesota Worker’s Stolen Bike with Brand-New Ride & Bike Lock: ‘This Brings Joy and Faith in Humanity’

What’s stopping us all from being like this?

One bar in Rochester, Minnesota, has gone viral after its customers and workers banded together to replace a young man’s stolen bike with a shiny, new ride. On top of that, they also threw in a bonus bike accessory to ensure that the misfortune doesn’t happen again to the young worker. This gesture and overwhelming display of a sense of community have brought the young man to tears:

A young man got his bike stolen while he was at work, so the owners of the establishment and some of the patrons chipped in and bought the young man a new bike.

Primo, the young man in question, was ecstatic, and he certainly felt the love. The gift-giving event took place early in August 2025 at Townies Philly Kitchen & Bar in Rochester, Minnesota. Meanwhile, the video was uploaded originally to Facebook by Tim Nela, Townies’ events promoter. According to Neda, someone stole Primo’s bike while he was working inside Townies’ building, robbing him not just of the bike but a means to support his family. Townies and the customers came to the rescue:

“Someone stole this young man’s bike while he was at work. So, the family at Townies came together to buy him a new bike and had it delivered to him so he could get home. A big thank you to our guests who also went out of their way to give him money. Thank you all for helping turn a tough situation into something hopeful—it reminds us that there are still good people out there,” according to Tim Nela of Townies

Thankfully, the customers and visitors of Townies– most of them strangers to Primo– contributed funds in a joint effort to get the young man a new bike along with a complementary bike lock, repair kit, and even lamps. Apart from getting a bike and bike accessories, Primo also received a warm hug from Townies’ guest granny, along with words that many viewers found endearing:

“‘It’s all you Primo, we got you man’ ❤️ that’s family right there,” says one Facebook user

“Omg.. he needed that hug as much as the bike!! 🥹🥹🥰”

Primo immediately thanked everyone and is now ready to get back on the road, both literally and figuratively, with the help of his local community. Cody Livingood, owner of Townies’, has also reiterated that what they did at their bar in Rochester is “what community is about,” transcript courtesy of HypeFresh.

Faith in Humanity Restored?

Because of this somewhat rare and touching display of community and an act of kindness, the video not only went viral but also gave hope to its viewers. For many, what happened to Primo was perhaps a reminder that if we all just be nice to each other and try to help struggling people instead of oppressing them or ripping them off, maybe there’s hope.

“Smile people, sh**s f***ed up but this brings joy and faith in humanity,” according to a Reddit mod

“This is what people should be about, instead of the fucking division that a group of people are trying to do right now. After all, everyone is just trying work for a better life. The one standing between you and a better life isn’t another peer who is also trying, or someone who risked their lives to earn more money. The one standing between you and a better life is those who are in power.”

“The world is in desperate need of more people like these”

Others can’t help but also shed happy tears or maybe tears of relief, especially in these trying times. A lot of people are likely in the same boat as Primo, where his struggles were made harder after someone wronged him further; so, like Primo, some people now believe that a genuinely kind community is what’s needed right now.
