ICE agents clashing with regular people and protestors is constant now. Just their presence is enough to agitate people, especially when they’re seemingly blending in with plain clothes instead of their typical (hilariously small) vest and mask. When a woman in Massachusetts noticed some ICE agents sitting at a table in the Mount Pleasant neighborhood, she wasn’t about to stay silent. She decided she’d speak up, and speak up she did, until the ICE agents tucked tail and left the restaurant.
Posted by TikTok user Inquir, the video shows three ICE agents sitting at a table outside of a restaurant, wearing plain clothes. A woman walks up to them and pleasantly asks, “Hey, neighbors, what’s up? Where do you guys live?” The agents side-eye her and refuse to answer her questions, saying it’s a weird thing to ask somebody where they live. She says she doesn’t think it’s weird at all and asks them once again. When the ICE agents try to ignore her, she really lets them have it.
“You won’t say your name, you coward? I see three little b*****s,” the woman says. “We’re a very friendly neighborhood here,” and once again asks their name. At this point, one agent holds her phone up and takes a picture of the woman. She says to her in response, “Oh, you’re taking a picture of me because you’re a little b***h, too? That’s fine. I don’t care. I didn’t do anything wrong. I’m not the one abusing people. I’m not a menace.”
Amazingly, she calls out to everybody in the vicinity, “Hey guys, these guys are ICE! ICE is here!” And enough it was, because right after, the ICE agents get up and start leaving. She calls after them, “Buh-bye!” They continue to adamantly deny they’re ICE but refuse to tell her two innocuous details about themselves, like any normal person would do.
Another person commented, “My hero right there. It’s going to take a woman to save this country.” We need more people like this, willing to stand up in the face of fascism, especially if your voice can carry like hers.
The lesson her can be summed up in by one commenter: “MAKE THEM SOOOO UNCOMFORTABLE YES PLEASE LEAVE!!!!” If I was an ICE agent and I was getting booed like that, I wouldn’t want to show my face either. That has to be embarrassing!
