Karens will often go to great lengths and sometimes even illegal ones to prove something: usually that they are as annoying as everyone believes them to be. And one Karen in Portland, Oregon, did not disappoint, as she refused to move and let a truck driver with a trailer go past. Instead of simply going into reserve and waiting, the woman sat in her pickup making a random phone call after taking a picture of the trucker’s company name.
As you’d expect, traffic began to pile up since the trailer took up the entirety of the road. The truck driver recorded the incident while other passersby tried their best to convince the Karen to move her pickup. Unfortunately, as anyone who’s dealt with a Karen would know, you can’t reason with one, as the reasoning behind their behavior is irrational in the first place.
“I’d just call a cop and let them sort it out,” remarks a Reddit user. Needless to say, that’d be the best course of action since she is indirectly holding up traffic with her vehicle. According to Oregon laws, blocking other cars on the road is a Class D traffic violation. This could make her pay anywhere from $65 to $250 in fines. Alternatively, she could also have backed up her pickup and waited half a minute, but that would have caused inconvenience, something greatly frowned upon in the privileged Karen space.
“This lady pushes doors when they say pull and gets mad,” jokes a Redditor. “Then takes a picture of the company name/logo on the door,” adds another. A third sarcastically agrees with her behavior, saying, “Yes, because staying in the same spot where he can’t move will definitely make him leave.” A fourth chimes in, “Miserable people love to spread the wealth.” Hopefully, in the end, someone called the police to put the Karen in her place. I’d hate to be someone on the other side of the trailer who’s late to something because a stubborn woman didn’t want to simply back up for a clearly large semi-truck’s haul.
