Tennessee Cop Searches Woman’s Car Without Warrant, Takes Her Pepper Spray Because It’s a ‘Weapon’: ‘He Was Wanting To Get Me in Trouble’

Sounds like he’s trying to cause trouble

There’s a lot of distrust against the cops these days, not that anti-police behavior is anything new. But the behavior many officers have been demonstrating these days, alongside ICE, hasn’t helped their reputation, and one Tennessee policeman made a middle-aged woman feel quite unsafe. Working as a night security guard can be quite stress-inducing, especially as a 5’3″ woman, so it’s understandable that this particular lady decided to keep pepper spray in her car for self-defense. What she wasn’t expecting was that a police officer would confiscate it from her.

It happened during the one fateful day she forgot to lock her car before going out on her usual patrols. After checking her company facility’s gates and doors, the woman walked back to her car and was surprised to see a cop waiting for her. Apparently, he’d searched through her vehicle and seized the pepper spray that was in her center console. The thing is, she had never used or even shown anyone her pepper spray prior to his unwarranted search. So the fact that he randomly decided to look in her personal vehicle because it was unlocked is very odd, to say the least.

The cop then lectured her on how she “should know better than to have a weapon on site, and he would be contacting my manager to report it.” To be fair, her company does prohibit security guards from equipping lethal and non-lethal weaponry, including pepper spray. But since the woman claims that she’s dealt with some possibly worrying situations in the past, she’s ignored her employer’s policy and stored the spray in her car, just in case. Still, she was upset the cop searched her car without any notice or warrant, which he claimed was fine because it was parked on company property.

The Security Guard Believes The Cop Is Using the Pepper Spray as an Excuse to Get Her in Trouble

Worried that she might lose her job over the fireable offense of having pepper spray on-site, the Tennessee security guard took to Reddit to share her annoyances about the cop. “The officer made it seem more like he was wanting to get me in trouble with my superiors more than anything else,” she remarked with suspicion. Not to mention, he’s not affiliated with the company, so it’s possible he’s personally connected to someone in management.

In the end, several Reddit users recommend she contact a lawyer about the case, as he searched her personal vehicle, which wasn’t company property. Even though no one is sure of the police officer’s true intentions, one person says that “this cop is a d*ck.” Clearly, he knew the car was hers, and he knew the company’s policies. The fact that he mentioned he’d bring it up to her manager might spell that some foul play is afoot to get her fired. Hopefully, she’ll take things up with her lawyer or the authorities to get to the bottom of things and see it all resolved.
