There are way too many instances of blatant racism going on in the United States to the point of intense hostility. In Kentucky, a former employee of LeAnn’s Local Petals, a florist in Georgetown, was attempting to leave the store on her own accord when her employers decided to make racist remarks. Fortunately, for the former employee, a TikTok user came across the video and decided to make it her job to make the florist’s day terrible. What did she do exactly? She used her privilege to ensure that those business owners would never make the same mistake again.
The original video, posted by TikTok user @257_iqra shows off the reality of working with racists. After attempting to leave the business quietly and without issue, the former employee, whose name has not been disclosed, was met with intense hostility. Immediately after the encounter, after she had opened the door and made her way outside, you can hear another employee call out to those who can hear to, “hide your purses.”The statement was nothing more than a racist prod, but it did not go unnoticed by TikTok user @ihaveallthefeels.
Instead of simply saying something about it, she physically went to the florist’s location and decided to enter as an ‘undercover white,’ imitating a customer. While in the middle of her fake order, she decided to confront the woman she was speaking with about the incident. The latter immediately got defensive, which is when the entire situation escalated, bringing in additional management from the back and even involving police officers. Various people in the comments absolutely loved the idea, with one person saying, “”Undercover white”. No I actually love that. These kinds of people don’t worry about it, because they think only minorities will be bothered by the issue. Everybody needs to make some noise! (For legal purposes, I’m not telling you to do nothing crazy though lmaooo 🌼)”
It’s very clear that @ihaveallthefeels just wanted to have a conversation with the store owners to get a better idea of what happened and offer her own advice as someone who has worked in retail for several years. While I cannot say that she was in the right for doing what she did, I am glad that someone decided to stand up to injustice, even if it caused them to be trespassed from a business.
