Between cramped spaces and unruly customers, public transportation is not for the weak. However, for this bus ride, an Illinois woman would go full-on racist Karen mode. In a TikTok posted by the account @JayAslan, the app’s users got a front row seat to this public meltdown. The video has now reached around 13K views, with only around one thousand likes since its time of posting. Although the clip is on its way to viral status, as more and more viewers see the TikTok every day.
The TikTok starts off fast, with the altercation already underway. While it is unclear what caused the initial reaction from the Illinois woman, whatever it was certainly made her angry. The woman can then be seen screaming basically right at the phone of the person recording her freakout. However, things would quickly turn from bad to worse when the woman brings up race. The woman can be heard yelling in the video, “The whites get nothing.” She then quickly doubles down on her comments by telling the man sitting behind her that “This is why you guys went into slavery.”
Racist Illinois Karen Freaks Out on Bus
Shortly after the woman fires off her racist remarks, other passengers on the bus would step in to try and defuse the situation. One person off camera can even be heard telling the racist Karen to “shut up.” It is very clear that the other passengers are just as fed up with the woman as everyone else involved. The racist woman would then start arguing with almost every passenger on the bus as her rant continued on.
She brings up slavery more and states that black people were placed into slavery because “They owed so much money.” Passengers continue to repeatedly tell the woman to shut up; however, their efforts appear to be in vain.
Things then begin to escalate even further as a screaming match with profane language flying everywhere would begin between the Illinois woman and other bus passengers. After the racist remarks, as well as some kind of accusation regarding her family, the racist Karen finally announces that she is leaving. As the woman gets off the bus, the group recording her begins to burst out in laughter regarding the situation.
Issues like this, racist Illinois Karen, are seemingly becoming more common in these types of interactions. However, the bus passengers played it about as well as anyone could. As the video ends, the camera person can be heard saying, “Just another day in Chicago.“
