Pennsylvania Student Crashes Car While Recording Britney Spears Sing-Along Video: ‘At least you were wearing your seatbelt.’

Don’t film and drive

An unavoidable collision, or the result of distracted and negligent driving? Recently, TikToker Kaitlynn McCutcheon crashed her car while filming herself behind the wheel. McCutcheon, whose Instagram shows her as a student in the Keystone State, insists that she isn’t to blame.

In a video recently posted to her TikTok channel, Kaitlynn is seen loudly singing to a Britney Spears song. What starts as a funny rendition of Hit Me Baby One More Time quickly turns into a struggle to drive. Despite failed attempts to remain in control of her sliding vehicle, she crashes it into a hill. The car then flips onto its side.

The accident footage is less than 20 seconds long, but in a follow-up TikTok, Kaitylnn explains it in more detail. She claims that her Subaru slid on loose gravel on the passenger side of the road.

Keystones to the Blame Game

Rather than apologize, McCutcheon defends herself, stating that nothing she did caused the wreck:

Let me start this off by saying I was not speeding. I was not on my phone. I did not crash the car on purpose… I was not making a TikTok. I often take videos of myself singing in the car… And fourth of all, I reached for my phone because how else was I supposed to call for help?

She also says a flatter road would have prevented the crash. She claims she bumped into a hill, which then sent her vehicle out of control.

Viewers are never clued into specifics regarding the crash’s location. It’s unclear if the accident took place in Pennsylvania or somewhere else nearby. Yet the footage has now reached a total of 3.3 million views. Comments are divided over whether she acted responsibly and simply encountered bad luck. Some feel her decision to film and drive is reckless, while others are more understanding.

Luckily, Kaitlynn was able to walk away with minor bruises and a slight concussion. As for her vehicle, she claims it’s still drivable, albeit a little banged up. Will the crash deter this witty Pennsylvania driver from filming future car clips? It doesn’t seem likely, but let’s hope that safety is never an issue again.
