When going into a ‘private’ meeting with a government official, especially the King of England, you’d imagine things are supposed to be kept under wraps, right? Well, Prince Harry has not seemed to have stuck to that commitment, according to a royal source for Daily Mail. Despite having allegedly promised King Charles not to disclose what was discussed at the long-awaited meeting with his father, Prince Harry has seemingly informed someone that this meeting was the “first step towards his family returning to the UK.” In other words, the King will be able to see his estranged grandchildren again.
Considering the state of King Charles’ age and health, seeing any of his grandchildren is absolutely a positive thing. What isn’t so positive about this news is that a ‘royal source’ has come in with claims that this will all happen thanks to the private meeting with his son, Prince Harry. Fans suspect this could mean two things, neither of which spells good for the Sussexes. First, it could mean that Harry did leak what was discussed during the meetup, during which Charles reportedly agreed to have his whole family come to visit in the UK. While that’s good news, it would indicate Harry broke the promise of keeping things private.
On the other hand, some fans believe that this ‘royal source’ could instead be a PR tool of sorts that Harry is using to get back into the headlines since his meeting with his father has been quickly drowned out by other pressing incidents in the world. Either way, breaking a promise or manipulating the press with PR are two negatives that no one believes to be a good omen that things are ‘looking up’ for Prince Harry. “So much for ‘private tea,'” jokes an online user. “Why would you tell your team what was said at a private meeting? He has broken his word once again,” remarks another commenter.
“So much for fearing for their safety,” adds another, referring to how Prince Harry has always mentioned being worried that his family would be in danger if they returned to the UK, especially without royal security. But now, if the leak means he’s in cahoots with said ‘royal source,’ then his comments about “their safety” feel rather invalid. As one person puts it: “What happened to ‘I can’t see a future when I can bring my wife and children back to this country?’ Didn’t he tell the BBC that just two months ago???“
Regardless of what happens, Archie and Lilibet do deserve to see their grandfather before his health worsens. So, hopefully, despite all the trouble Harry and Meghan cause for themselves, their children get some good out of it.
