When you think of royalty, characteristics that might come to mind are elegance, modesty, gracefulness, and dignity. Most wouldn’t imagine Hollywood, entertainment, lifestyle brand names, or dancing as things a member of the Royal Member would be seen participating in. Yet, that’s exactly what Prince William and Kate Middleton are under fire for: not being ‘cool and hip’ like their ex-royal counterparts, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. After all, why settle for the crown when you can pursue riches, fame, and fortune in Montecito, right?
Well, that’s the take that Daily Mail recently put out, dissing William and Kate as the “Prince and Princess of Boring.” The argument is that Prince Harry had a tremendously favorable trip while he was in London before heading off to Ukraine, where he continues his pompous pursuit of positive PR. Harry got to meet with the King and get involved with multiple exciting events that involved “laughter and joy,” whereas Prince William and Kate Middleton have been doing activities on the opposite side of the spectrum. While Harry was prancing about with a smug look on his face, William attended a suicide prevention conference, and Kate went to events at textile factories. Certainly boring stuff compared to Team Sussex, right?

For Royals, Being Boring Is Fine, Especially Kate Just Recovered from Cancer
Well, the online community of Royal followers did not share the same sentiment as the Daily Mail post. In fact, an overwhelming majority felt the report was outrageously incorrect or just ragebait. Even the comment section was swarmed with people criticizing the perspective that William or Kate are “boring.” One commenter remarks, “Boring? She’s recovering from cancer. I’m sure she’s sorry that’s not entertaining enough for you.” And another adds that “They are not meant to entertain us. Who knows what goes on behind closed doors?” Hundreds more were just as repulsed by the disrespect placed on the Prince and Princess of Wales.
The anti-Team Wales opinion on Reddit didn’t fare much better either, with many saying that “boring” is fine, as it means there’s no drama to have a headache over. “The pro Harry PR feels planned and coordinated. It’s disgusting,” chimes in one individual. A reply added that these sorts of pro-Sussex opinions won’t help Harry’s cause at all regarding his private letters of demands to William and Charles. “The RF isn’t a circus that exists to entertain us,” remarks one commenter. And another makes an excellent point: “Royals are supposed to be kind of boring…The royals aren’t celebrities as much as the media wants them to be.”
Let’s say Prince William and Princess Catherine are destined to become a boring King and Queen. As long as they are proper royalty and do their duties, then most people will assuredly be pleased.
