As of yesterday, Bethesda and Tango Gameworks have released an update for their horror title The Evil Within 2. The update, available for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, gives players the option to traverse the game from a first-person perspective.

Bethesda and Tango Gameworks detailed this update in an announcement yesterday, informing players that they could switch from third-person, the The Evil Within 2‘s original camera perspective, to a first-person perspective. This is a change that can be made at any time during the game, and it is as easy as flipping a switch in the menu settings. Bethesda also announced that this update would also be available in the free trial of the game.

However, those who bought The Evil Within 2 on PC have actually had this option since its October release. A redditor found the unofficial access to the perspective switch through a console command. The post was flooded with positive comments about how the switch would only enhance the experience of the horror title, as the trend in horror games tend to be a first-person perspective.

The Evil Within 2 – First-Person Gameplay Mode Available Now!

Tango Gameworks producer Shinsaku Ohara commented in the release:

A lot of players like playing horror games in first-person, so for those who want to see some of the game’s situations through Sebastian’s eyes, it’s a really neat experience. I think exploring Union in first-person makes the scale feel even bigger than it does when you’re in third-person. Also, being able to see our environments and enemies up close allows players to get an even better look at how much effort went into their designs.

Will you be brave enough to face the horrors of The Evil Within 2 from the first-person? Let us know in the comments below, and keep coming back to The Nerd Stash for all of your nerdy news and needs!
