Bethesda and Tango Gameworks detailed this update in an announcement yesterday, informing players that they could switch from third-person, theย The Evil Within 2‘s original camera perspective, to a first-person perspective. This is a change that can be made at any time during the game, and it is as easy as flipping a switch in the menu settings. Bethesda also announced that this update would also be available in the free trial of the game.
However, those who boughtย The Evil Within 2ย on PC have actually had this option since its October release. A redditor found the unofficial access to the perspective switch through a console command. The post was flooded with positive comments about how the switch would only enhance the experience of the horror title, as the trend in horror games tend to be a first-person perspective.
Tango Gameworks producer Shinsaku Ohara commented in the release:
A lot of players like playing horror games in first-person, so for those who want to see some of the gameโs situations through Sebastianโs eyes, itโs a really neat experience.ย I think exploring Union in first-person makes the scale feel even bigger than it does when youโre in third-person. Also, being able to see our environments and enemies up close allows players to get an even better look at how much effort went into their designs.
