A woman shared how her mother was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer and had a chemotherapy session at a hospital. She said that her mom kept talking about how Smith was her favorite player and this made her think of something that would make her happy. The daughter contacted Smith’s fiancée, Mya, through Instagram and told her the story of her mom and how she is a big fan of Smith. She asked her if she could send her a jersey to get Smith’s signature since this would make her mother’s day. Mya then decided to go above and beyond.
The Philadelphia Eagles fan and her daughter got the surprise of their life that day. Instead of doing the daughter’s request, Mya made sure to drive to the hospital literally two hours after their conversation. She then hand-delivered a signed jersey. Let’s just say that the mother loved this surprise. In a video of her reaction, you could see her getting emotional and not believing what was happening. She kept asking her daughter if she ordered it but her daughter made sure to tell her that she wasn’t making this story up. “Are you kidding me?” she asked her daughter while still in disbelief. The heartwarming moment continued when she spread the jersey on top of her and asked her daughter to take a picture and send it to their family. What made it even better was the fact that this was the first jersey she had ever had. This is the beauty of sports.
