Recently, there has been a surge of discourse online about claims that the rapture was imminent. On social media, particularly TikTok, users began posting reaction videos, some skeptical, others fully convinced. Among those who believed, the responses were extreme. Reports surfaced of people quitting their jobs, selling their homes, and even considering giving their children to CPS. Others simply gave away their belongings in preparation for what they thought was the end.
Of course, the rapture didn’t happen as expected, but the frenzy ended up being a stroke of luck for some. One woman in New York, for example, walked away with an expensive lamp completely free, thanks to those preparing for the supposed event.
The New York woman posted a video on TikTok taken outside where she showed how her neighbors left a lot of their furniture outside. All of them were free to grab, so it is understandable that the woman said, “It’s Rapture Day and I am so excited.” She was lucky enough to find a 1969 Sputnik Floor Lamp, which is over $2000. In a screenshot from a website, you can see the lamp being sold for $2,582. Since the lamp does look gorgeous, I had to make sure that the price was real. Well, I ended up finding the same lamp but for $3,268. Yeah, the woman is definitely lucky. While the lamp would need some work, as she said, that doesn’t mean that she didn’t hit the jackpot.
People Reacting to the New York Woman’s Lucky Find
A lot of people were quite entertained by what happened to the New York woman. Some were even kind of jealous and wished that they were that lucky. Since this is all thanks to Rapture Day, people hoped that it would happen more often. “Wait we need a yearly rapture,” one person wrote. Another person then said, “we should have rapture days more often.” Others were confused about why anyone would get rid of their expensive items. “I’m confused why they feel the need to clear out,” one person asked. This made someone say, “supposedly it’s because they are supposed to sell everything and give the money to the poor and people who wont ‘ascend’.” I’m sure a lot of people are happy to be down here with all these free things.
Others wanted the New York woman to film her neighbors’ reactions when they find their things gone. “Can you get footage of them awkwardly coming back for their stuff after they didn’t disappear in the rapture??” one woman asked. There were also some comments to do with religion. “That’s actually so ironic bc in the Bible it tells us that we will never be able to predict when the rapture will be,” one person said. While you might think that this is a joke, someone left a comment saying, “I heard a couple moms today talking about how they sold their car to prepared and that they were wondering what time it would start at…. Like they had to get dropped off there by their husbands because they no longer had vehicles….” At least some people are coming out of this situation as winners.
