Returning a product to a store shouldn’t be treated like it is the end of the world. If the store has a return policy then employees should simply follow it. A disgusting California employee decided not to do that. When a customer went to return a product, the employee refused and started talking disrespectfully. Her tone definitely wasn’t a tone that should be used with a customer. According to their conversation, the store made a mistake that didn’t show the customer’s product on the receipt. This made the employee refuse to return it. When the customer told her that she could check the camera, her response was that she didn’t want to check it. She then started explaining why she won’t return the product but she was being condescending.
Of course, with the way the California employee was talking, the customer lost her patience. “Why are you such a bitch?” she asked and that was when the employee told her to get out. It wasn’t just that but she also threw the product and the customer’s car keys away. She then tried to upset her even more telling her that she was wearing the same clothes that she wore when she first bought the products. Oh, so she remembered that she was there? What is completely insane, though, is that the employee told the customer to get liposuction and then come back and talk to her. So, when you argue with a customer, does that give you the right to body shame them?
The employee didn’t stop there. She also told her “I feel bad for your roots too.” I get it that the customer called her a “bitch” but she could have handled the situation better than that. If she had been speaking nicely in the first place, then she wouldn’t have been called anything. She then bodyshamed her again, saying, “Walk to your car, you might lose a couple pounds.” Finally, the employee gets from behind the counter and heads toward the customer while waving her hand and telling her to get out. She is lucky that the customer didn’t escalate things any further.
People Reacting to the Disgusting California Employee
Surprisingly, people were divided on whether to support the California employee or not. Some sided with her while others found that she was wrong for how she behaved. “Body shaming is CRAZYYYY to me,” one person wrote. Another person saw that the weight comments weren’t necessary. “I was on the cashier’s side until she threw her keys/product and told her to get liposuction/loose weight. I completely understand not returning product that wasn’t the original product- makes complete sense! But everything after was completely uncalled for,” they said. Someone who works as a manager even shared their opinion and wrote, “As a manager, she should’ve kept her composure. Rude customers come with the job, and being professional is her responsibility. In this case, she failed.”
There were also several comments that supported the California employee and believed that she was standing up for herself. When one person wrote, “UPDATE: she’s been terminated‼‼” people saw that the worker might be glad. “And she probably didn’t care, she’s probably had enough of retail. You get customers like this too many times and you get to that point that you don’t care anymore,” one woman wrote. Another woman then said, “As a retailer worker I love the worker.” Someone else also wrote, “I love when the employees give the same energy lol.” I can understand why the employee would be upset, but she probably lost her job over something that could have been easily avoided. As someone said, “cashier was so unprofessional.” That behavior isn’t good for any business.
