Racism has become so normalized that a woman in Tennessee resorted to singing “ICE ICE baby” as a threat to a Hispanic woman after the duo got into some kind of argument. As seen in a TikTok video, the woman was exchanging words with another Latino woman behind the camera whose face wasn’t shown.
“I never called you a b*tch,” the lady recording said. With a mocking grin, the White woman back, “Yes, you did.” The voice behind the camera said the woman had also called her a whore. When the Hispanic woman promised she would make her “famous,” the local, still grinning, dared her to go ahead. “Hey, please do”, she sneered.
“Ice Ice baby,” she taunted as she turned towards her car, still singing Vanilla Ice’s smash hit. The Tennessee woman was wearing a company T-shirt and drove a branded company vehicle. The car carried the name, services, address, and phone number of “On The Scene Events Services,” which the Hispanic woman carefully recorded.
The Hispanic woman defending her identity declared, “I’m a veteran of the United States.” Moving to her own car, the Hispanic woman lamented that the White woman assumed that she was an undocumented immigrant simply because of her race. At that point, the local got out of her car and started recording the immigrant as well. The veteran reiterated her time of service and demanded to know if the local could “say the same.”
The video spread quickly, fueling comments of outrage and frustration. “People threatening everyone with ICE is a sign this country is turning into 1930s Germany,” a user stated. Another, anticipating the blowback predicted, “I think she will soon be regretting displaying her nasty, bigoted mouth in public.” Addressing her expression, a Redditor wrote, “Ugh, it’s so slimy when b*tches smile like that when doing their b*tch thing.”
One advised sarcastically, “Tip #1 for MAGA assholes, If you’re going to show the world how racist you are, don’t do it while driving your company vehicle.” Not gleaned into humour, a user lamented, “Just pure vile racism. Who raised these people???” Echoing that, another added, “It’s not about politics, it’s about basic human decency. Disgusting behaviour.”
Some pointed to a pattern writing, “White people are becoming so emboldened and comfortable showing their true thoughts and feelings about their privilege. Why so scared? Why so hateful?” Others had gone digging and gotten answers. The woman was identified as Ali Huddleston, and she is the owner of the company.
