Things are constantly on fire in the American political battleground. Recently House Speaker Mike Johnson refused to swear in U.S. Representative Adelita Grijalva of Arizona. His reason? He demanded she provide official election results even though her victory in the recent special election is not disputed. Understandably, many people are upset about that decision. Among the critics is a TikToker who goes by razzledazzlemo.
He posted a short clip threatening Johnson, saying he would leak the speaker’s IP address and Grindr profile if Johnson didn’t swear in Grijalva by Wednesday. He framed Johnson’s move as an attack on democracy and LGBTQ rights and called it treason. “The choice is yours, do the right thing,” razzledazzlemo said, “’cause I’m petty and I’m not about this bulls***.”
It didn’t take long for the video to rack up attention on TikTok and across other social platforms. Many people treated the threat as funny and impatiently waited for Johnson’s alleged Grindr profile to be exposed.
But plenty of viewers worried about the TikToker’s move. “Is he getting a visit from the feds soon?” one user wrote. Others called the Arizona TikToker’s actions stupid, bluntly characterizing the clip as blackmailing a politician on social media. Some commenters pointed out that leaking an IP address might not have the dramatic effect the TikToker seemed to expect.
One user explained, “First of all, this is a TikTok user, so we can’t expect three-digit IQ. But this ‘hackerman’ apparently doesn’t know that a mobile IP is dynamic, not static, which means it changes frequently. Since Grindr is a mobile app, the IP will be mobile unless he’s on another network like home Wi-Fi or a coffee shop. Even then, one call to the ISP can change the IP, and some ISPs change it automatically if they detect an obvious DDoS attack (at least mine does, but I’m not American).”
Some people urged the Arizona TikToker to go ahead and publish the IP and the Grindr profile regardless of Johnson’s actions, saying it would expose hypocrisy. Others heavily doubted the TikToker’s claim, suggesting it was performative and unlikely to produce real dirt. “There is no way Mike Johnson has an identifiable Grindr profile. This is just for views, nothing will be released. If so, it’s gonna be fake. I’m tired of this narrative that all anti LGBT people are just closet cases. Nah, some people can just be a**holes,” one user wrote. After all, even if such a profile existed, critics argued someone as high-profile as Johnson wouldn’t be using his real name or face on the app.
