We’ve seen numerous unbelievable situations inside hospitals lately, some of which have affected the well-being of patients within them. Unfortunately, another incident happened not so long ago inside a hospital in New York, where a woman claims she was racially profiled during a sickle cell crisis. Apparently, a nurse suspected something was amiss inside the patient’s room and decided to remove the woman from her bed while security searched her belongings. It is a sad situation to see and live, especially when you’re in a lot of pain.
The original clip comes from TikTok user msvaliyahb, who was also the victim of this situation. According to the video, she was inside a hospital in New York, having a sickle cell crisis. However, one nurse approached her and sent security to the room because they “smelled something.”
This made the OP believe she was being racially profiled, as two security officers arrived at the room and started going through all of her things; they even checked the bathroom, under the bed, and moved several of the patient’s belongings.
As you can imagine, there was nothing suspicious inside the room, which makes the situation seem highly unnecessary and aggressive, especially since security and all the other hospital staff had to remove the patient from the bed while they searched. This is a huge deal, as a sickle cell crisis brings a lot of pain to the person, and the last thing you want to do is stand up in a corner while people go through your things.
Fortunately, the OP shared this harrowing situation, and many people on TikTok and Reddit gave her some advice on what to do in this situation.
“File a grievance and get a lawyer.” Said one user.
“Love the smell of a lawsuit in the morning, y’all.” Commented another person.
As you can see, many people recommend filing a lawsuit, which may be the best course of action. Whether this was racial profiling or not, the hospital harassed the patient by making her get out of her bed during a serious medical situation. Furthermore, the nurse wrongly accused this woman, and instead of talking with her or seeking a more peaceful solution, decided to call security. It was a truly terrible situation for the patient, and one we hope never happens again in this hospital or anywhere else.
