Some of the great minds behind Bioshock, Dishonored, Thief, and Prey have come together to form a new development studio, Question, and they are working on something pretty exciting. The Blackout Club is a co-op horror experience set to release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
The teaser trailer, released by Question earlier today, almost feels like an episode of Stranger Things or Scooby-Doo. You are a teenager in a small town who begins to wake every morning covered in dirt and scratches. However, you have no recollection of the events of the night before. Upon discovering a small group of friends that are experiencing similar blackouts, you must work together to discover the horrific mysteries surrounding your small town and to save the life of your best friend.
The Blackout Club will allow up to four players in this co-op experience. However, Question has stressed just how important working together as a team will be in their upcoming horror title. As a group of investigators, stealth will be of the utmost importance in order to document proof of the odd happenings in the tunnels below the city.
Jordan Thomas, Question’s co-founder and Creative Director of Bioshock 2, explained:
Our story is about vulnerable heroes — for whom co-op gameplay is a matter of survival — who unite to save their friends…We love expressive systems, where you shape the game experience as you see fit, often versus a whole ecosystem of intelligent threats. And now, they’re right next door — in a familiar, modern town, where the monster wears a human face.
The Blackout Club will release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The development team is hoping for a release within the first few months of 2019.
