Racists are especially emboldened these days, but there are just as many, if not more, good people out there who will stand up against someone’s ignorant feelings. One woman in Missouri wasn’t going to stand for it when the new neighbors in her apartment complex had to deal with a racist neighbor immediately. She tells the miserable Karen exactly how she feels, and things get a little heated, to say the least.
TikToker Jewelz captured the confrontation with her racist neighbor while she was in the hall. The Karen was harassing a Hispanic family. When Jewelz heard “No one speaks English anymore,” she started recording. The Karen asked Jewelz if she spoke Spanish so she could act as an interpreter. You can hear Karen freaking out because this family is trying to use the elevator. They’re just trying to move their things into their new apartment. According to the neighbor, that wasn’t allowed.
The racist neighbor goes on to tell Jewelz that the whole elevator broke a week prior and nobody was able to use it. “I know, I know. The elevator has been broken many times,” Jewelz says. She then tells the Karen she needs to stop interfering with their move and adds, “You shouldn’t be harassing them.”
But she keeps going anyway, while getting audibly louder. Jewelz has to tell her that the entire apartment can hear her racist tirade. Jewelz then apologizes to her new neighbors for theKaren’s behavior and tells them she’s “crazy.”
This really riles up the Karen, who starts shouting about how the family parked in her spot in the outdoor parking lot. She wants to create problems where there really are none. And it’s very obvious due to the fact the family isn’t White. Jewelz points out that she wasn’t invited into this whole interaction. At the end, Jewelz tells her neighbor to “mind her own business.”
“Oop they thought they could use you as an interpreter but they got the wrong one,” one person joked. Did she really think she’d find someone else to dogpile another family?
“So because the elevator was broken when she moved, new tenants can’t use it now that it’s fixed? I’m so glad you were there to defend them,” said another. Sometimes people are pretty cool!
