Now imagine deliberately trying to provoke others and then sticking around just to start trouble. That’s exactly what one unhinged Florida man did when he decided to hang an Israeli flag from an overpass. A couple driving by noticed him doing it and returned about two hours later to take the flag down. You’d think the man would have left by then, but he hadn’t. Instead, he waited at the overpass the entire time, apparently hoping someone would show up so he could confront them.
What made the situation even more disturbing wasn’t just that the Florida man waited around, but that he had a bat with him, ready for a confrontation. He was literally prepared to attack people over a flag. When the couple approached the overpass, he suddenly appeared, walking toward them while gripping the bat. “I was pretty sure there was going to be a gang up here,” he told them. Keep in mind, it was just two people, hardly a gang. He eventually set the bat down but kept standing near it, casually asking how they were doing before explaining that he was there to “guard” his sign because he suspected someone might try to take it down. Seriously, how much free time does this guy have?
The man then insisted the bat wasn’t meant to threaten anyone, but to “protect himself.” Protect himself from what, exactly, two unarmed people removing a flag? One of them asked the obvious question: “So are you just waiting to antagonize people?” That seemed to hit the nail on the head. When he put a hand on the man from the couple, they warned him not to touch them. “God bless you,” the Florida man replied as the couple decided to walk away, realizing there was no point arguing with someone who had waited two hours just to pick a fight.

The video of the Florida man drew plenty of attention online, and most of the comments were against him and what he stood for. Many people called him out for clearly looking for trouble. “That man has so much hate in his heart,” one commenter wrote. Others pointed out how strange it was that he had just been waiting around. “OH SO HE’S WAITING AND TRAPPING PEOPLE,” one person said, while another asked, “So he was baiting victims?” A few tried to defend his actions, which sparked a debate about whether what he did was even legal. “It’s illegal. He can wave it around, but you can’t just leave it there and ‘guard’ it from a distance with a weapon,” one user wrote. Another commenter advised the couple to get the authorities involved, saying, “Call the cops, that’s illegal brandishing.”
Even more people chimed in to share their thoughts about the Florida man and his flag stunt. “He is too unemployed,” one person joked. Another commenter offered advice to the couple on how they should’ve handled it, writing, “Show up with a Palestine flag and hang it next to his. He can’t get upset. You’re doing the same thing he is. Freedom of speech for everyone.” Something tells me he wouldn’t have liked that idea. Others were far less peaceful, with one person bluntly saying, “Would’ve beat his [expletive] and shoved that flag up his [expletive].” One TikTok user pointed out an interesting detail about the man’s setup: his small U.S. flags compared to the much larger Israeli one. “His American flag was a quarter the size of the Israel one. He’s more willing to fight and die for a foreign flag than the one of his own country. They’re doing the exact things they wanna kick all POC out for,” they said. Honestly, that’s a pretty solid point.
