You’d like to think that if you accidentally left something behind, someone would try to return it. But that wasn’t the case for one Texas woman who forgot her purse at a Taco Bell. Instead of helping, three kids who happened to be there decided to take it.
Fortunately, the woman had a tracker tucked inside her wallet, allowing her and her husband to trace the purse’s movements around town. Each time the signal updated, they followed—until they eventually spotted the three kids. When the husband approached and asked if they’d seen his wife’s purse, the teens denied everything. They even pretended to help look for it.
When the tracker updated again, the Texas woman followed the signal and realized it led straight to the same group of kids. That’s when she decided to confront them directly.
In the video of the encounter, she’s seen speaking to the boy standing in the middle, who initially refused to admit anything about the missing purse. It wasn’t until she mentioned taking the situation to the nearby police station that he finally broke his silence, revealing he was on probation. The boy then pulled the purse out of a plastic bag he had been carrying, confirming that they’d been lying the entire time.
But the ordeal didn’t end there. The purse was completely empty. When she demanded to know where the rest of her belongings were, the kids denied taking anything out, despite the obvious evidence to the contrary.
What Happened Next
The kids lied again and said that they were looking for the Texas woman to give her the purse back. Well, if this were true, then why did they say they didn’t see any purse when the husband asked them? She told them that she can track her wallet and that it was there so where is it? When the couple told the kids that the cards in the wallet were frozen and there was no cash, the kid in the middle pulled out the wallet from his pocket. This is just insane. “Are you [expletive] kidding me, dude?” she asked in disbelief. You would think that at this point they would come clean, but the lies kept coming. They told her that they had nothing else, but then she told them that she could track her AirPods too. The boy then started searching in his pocket and took the AirPods out.
By this point, the Texas teens were getting downright obnoxious. The woman kept asking for her car keys, and they continued to deny having them. Honestly, most people would’ve called the police right then and there, given how they were toying with her.
They even tried to make an excuse to leave, claiming they had an Uber to catch — a poor attempt at dodging accountability. They should’ve thought about that before stealing someone’s belongings. To make matters worse, the boy in the middle had the nerve to ask the couple not to call the police. Despite everything, the woman stayed calm and told them she wouldn’t, so long as they returned her things.
After the video cut off, the Texas woman continued pressing the teens for her missing car keys. Eventually, they claimed they’d show her where the keys were. It seemed like an attempt to slip away—perhaps to point out a random spot and then run—but the woman wasn’t fooled. She insisted that they walk with her and her husband to retrieve them.
As the group made their way toward a nearby alley, one of the kids finally confessed. He pulled the woman’s car keys and several other items from his pocket and handed them to her husband. They’d had her belongings the entire time.
While many online argued they should’ve been taken straight to the police, the woman later explained that her past experiences with local law enforcement hadn’t been positive. Still, she hoped the confrontation was enough to teach them a lesson—because next time, they might not get off so easily.
People Reacting to the Texas Kids’ Behavior
People found the situation that the Texas woman went through with the three kids to be insane. A lot of comments wanted her to call the police despite the group’s pleas. “You better have called the police. People really need to learn,” one woman wrote. Another woman said, “PRESS CHARGES IMMEDIATELY.” Since the couple didn’t do this, a third woman asked, “Why haven’t you called the cops ???” It would have been better if the kids faced serious consequences. Others found several things that happened to be funny as one person wrote, “he pulled it out once you said the cards were frozen.” Another person then said, “the way he kept pulling things out of his pockets.” Someone else had the same point as they added, “them denying it n then continuing to constantly pull all of it out like you can’t track anything.”
There were also a lot of comments that gave advice to the Texas woman and her husband. “Change your card numbers mama, just in case they took pictures of your cards,” one person wrote. Another person applauded the woman for being persistent as they said, “They thought they were slick with keeping the keys. They would’ve went to your address on your ID and tried to steal your car, good you were persistent!” There was one woman who felt bad that the kids were this young and were already doing stuff like this. “They look so young and for them to be on probation already!?” she asked in disbelief. Another woman said, “I really hope you called the cops if he’s already on probation and still stealing stuff clearly he’s not learning.” What matters is that the owner got back her purse in the end.
