Despite all the bad going on in the world, there’s still room to laugh and smile at jokes and impressions. Nebraska comedian Godfrey decided to share his Donald Trump impression in the studio with none other than Dr. Dre, popular producer and member of the famous rap group NWA. It’s honestly a little unnerving just how spot-on Godfrey’s impression is, and it’s clear that Dre felt the same way by the time the video wrapped up.
The above video features comedian Godfrey and producer Dr. Dre in what looks to be the latter’s studio while the former does an insane Donald Trump impression. I understand that Godfrey is a comedian, but his impression of the disgraced president is actually incredibly spot-on.
While Godfrey does his impression, he makes sure to up the inflection on certain terms, which puts a lot of focus on what Trump likely would never say. While laughing, Dr. Dre stands up from where he was seated and says into the camera, “I’m not doing this. No, we’re not doing this,” while laughing. He even makes sure to reiterate his thoughts on the President, ending the video with, “I do not approve this message.
Despite the terrible connotation President Trump has within the Black community, the comments were absolutely hilarious, with my personal favorite saying, “Trump will hear this audio and 100% believe he said this.” Other comments were more focused on Dre’s movements and gestures throughout the video, suggesting that he might have been afraid that the video would be received the wrong way by viewers. One person even said, “All Dr Dre is worried about is being cancelled 😂😂.”
The 60-year-old rapper and producer is incredibly well-known in the music world for his contributions to rap music and for discovering some of the biggest names in the genre. In fact, he’s credited with having discovered Snoop Dogg and helping him rise to become the icon we know him as now. What’s really interesting is that while he was in NWA, Dre was popular for producing songs that focused on how the Black man is treated by government officials and police.
It’s also pretty great to see that he still believes in those same ideals, making sure to say that he does not endorse Trump’s message, even if it’s just a parody. All of that aside, I’m very curious to know why both Godfrey and Dre were in the studio together at the same time.
