Austin Employee Tries to Frame Co-Worker For Drinking At The Job, Only to discover It was Far Weirder ‘Your Co-Worker Needs a Hobby’

We all know that hostile work environments are unfortunately a reality many people have to deal with. However, there are times when some co-workers just want to make your workday a living hell for no reason. Recently, a hotel employee in Austin, Texas, shared how one of their co-workers framed them because they thought they were drinking during the job. However, it turns out the bottle was nothing more than vanilla syrup, which the victim used to add flavor to their coffee.

I got called into HR because a coworker said I was sneaking liquor in my coffee >:(

The video comes from Redditor sunny_6305. They shared a story about how a co-worker accused OP of drinking during work with HR. According to the one who posted the image, this co-worker saw a bottle and took it to the human resources department of their hotel in Austin, claiming the OP was drinking alcohol during their shift. However, the bottle isn’t alcohol at all. They use vanilla syrup for their coffee.

There is more context regarding this situation, as the OP mentioned that this co-worker is also on probation at the same time as them. According to them, this might be a move to steal OP’s job. Claiming someone is drinking at work would be an easy way to get rid of the competition. However, this genius not-soon-to-be-permanent-employee didn’t read the fine print that said, “vanilla syrup.”

This might be good for everyone, as the one who shared the picture also mentioned that the establishment’s boss has had enough of this annoying co-worker and might not make it once the probation period ends. So, this syrup incident might’ve been the last thing they needed to justify not keeping this problematic worker in training.

While it seems the situation will have a happy ending, many other Redditors took their time to share some advice with the victim. Some even threw some fun recommendations for OP.

“Make sure to act drunk and badly hide the bag to bait an accusation,” commented TannedCroissant.

“Oh boy. Not only is that ridiculous, but now you know you’ve got someone watching your every move. Be very careful,” said baegopah_XD.

In the end, it seems that the outcome for the snitching co-worker won’t be too great, as many other employees at the hotel, the boss included, have noticed some of their behaviour. If, for whatever reason, this problematic trainee manages to stick around, we can only hope for other employees to label their bottles before being accused of drinking at work.
