It’s starting to feel like not a single day goes by without another racist incident making headlines. The latest example comes from California, where an unhinged Karen went on a disgusting racist rant toward a Mexican woman. The confrontation began at a Sam’s Club fuel station after the Karen accused the woman of holding up the line. That’s when things took an ugly turn.
“Typical [expletive] Mexican,” the Karen shouted as the woman stepped out of her car and began recording the encounter. While pumping her gas, the Karen hurled another slur, calling the woman a “dumb be***r.” When the victim repeated what was said for others nearby to hear, the Karen tried to justify herself, insisting that the woman was “holding up the line,” as if that somehow excused her behavior.
The racism she faced clearly left the California woman furious, and understandably so. What made it even worse was that the Karen just wouldn’t stop. At one point, she even raised her fist and motioned as if she was going to punch her. The woman calmly explained that the reason she was “holding up the line” was because she was helping another customer, a woman with a cane. But instead of showing any understanding, the Karen dismissed her explanation completely.
When the victim began filming the Karen’s license plate, the woman mocked her, sarcastically saying that recording her “would do a lot.” I doubt she’d feel the same way if that video cost her a job. She then called the victim a “crazy lady,” which is ironic considering she was the one yelling, pretending to throw punches, and even sticking out her tongue.
The video continued as the two women argued. “Crazy White lady on the loose,” the victim said while filming. When she called the Karen racist, the woman proudly replied, “Sure am.” It’s wild how unashamed she was of her behavior. She went on to insult the woman further, saying things like, “I bet you have welfare to get to,” and bringing up “food stamps” and “free housing.” She even assumed, “Your mom and dad are here illegally,” and added, “You wonder why everybody wants you back in Mexico? That’s because you guys act like this.”
Eventually, a Sam’s Club employee stepped in to defuse the situation. The California woman explained again that she’d been helping a woman with a cane. Then she turned to the Karen and said, “Look, White people are coming to save you,” as a White man walked over to help the Karen pump her gas. “Oh, the White people helping the White people, that’s so cute,” she said sarcastically.
The man told her, “You had to pull the racial card,” which felt misplaced since it was the Karen who brought race into the situation to begin with. Still, he politely asked the woman if she needed any help. “I’m just waiting for this [expletive] to leave,” she replied. Finally, the Karen drove off, but not before yelling one last insult, telling her to “go collect her welfare.”
As the victim later pointed out, the Karen probably didn’t realize she’d end up going viral for her racist outburst.
People Reacting to the Unhinged California Karen
Almost everyone who commented on the video believed that the California Karen was the one in the wrong. People started calling her names, as one person called her, “Old shriveled up raisin.” Others commented on the kind of car she was driving, as one viewer wrote, “The way that lady’s talking you’d think she were driving a Benz and not the cheapest vehicle Kia produces.” Another person also said, “Calling someone poor while you look at the pump to spend an exact amount of dollars on gas for your 2010s Kia Soul is an interesting choice.” This opinion was shared by many as someone then added, “‘Go collect your welfare!’ as she drives off in her KIA [expletive]box. Oooook lmao.”
Many people reacted to the video of the California Karen, and most of them didn’t hold back. Several commenters predicted that her racist rant would come back to haunt her. “She’s going to be so shocked in two days when she gets [expletive] canned from her job for being a racist POS,” one person wrote. Another added, “Article about her termination by her employer incoming…”
Some focused on her apparent political beliefs, with one commenter pointing out, “‘Thank God we got Trump back.’ Ah, there it is.” Others expressed frustration over how common racism has become. “That woman is fully showing all her true ugliness.
