Scared Georgia Woman Comes Back to Hotel Room Only to Find That Someone Had Removed Her Door Latch: ‘Pack Up and Leave’

How did this happen?

Unfortunately, women always have to be aware of their surroundings, whether they’re at home or traveling. One woman in Georgia was lucky enough to be the kind who pays attention to details, and that awareness may have saved her from something dangerous.

She shared her story online, explaining that she was staying at a nice hotel and had stepped out of her room for a while. But when she returned, she was terrified by what she found. Her hotel room’s door latch, which she had used multiple times to lock the door, had been completely removed.

In her video, she filmed the area where the latch used to be while speaking with a hotel staff member who was standing beside her. She calmly pointed out what had happened, clearly shaken by the discovery.

*Update, the manager Michael came to talk to me this morning, very nice and professional. He is investigating the incident fully and was extremely apologetic.* Stay alert! Pay attention to your surroundings at all times. Take photos of how things “were” so you can reflect if ever in doubt. And by all means, follow your gut instinct. Something makes me feel like this lock may have been removed for a much more nefarious reason. I cant be sure, but I’m not taking any chances. I’m OUT! #scary #scarytiktoks #hotelroom #safetytips

The Georgia woman said she immediately called the manager to let him know she no longer felt safe staying in that room, and honestly, who could blame her? Even the employee who was with her agreed that her concern was valid. He went inside the room and began filming the spot where the latch had been removed. “It shouldn’t have happened,” she told him firmly.

She later shared advice for others, urging people to always be aware of their surroundings when traveling, just in case something similar happens to them. In her video caption, she mentioned that the manager had apologized and was investigating the situation.

It’s likely she checked out right after that, as she added, “I’m not taking any chances. I’m OUT.” And really, who could blame her? Who knows what could’ve happened if she hadn’t noticed that missing latch in time.

People Reacting to the Georgia Woman’s Video

People were shocked after seeing the Georgia woman’s video, and many were genuinely worried for her safety. The comments were filled with people urging her to get out immediately. “Pack up and leave. It’s no longer safe there,” one person wrote.

Others thought the hotel employee’s behavior seemed suspicious. “I do not trust him,” one woman commented. Another added, “He’s acting so nonchalant. Giving weird vibes.” Someone else pointed out, “She’s smart to have recorded this and the hotel worker. Most times these are well-orchestrated inside jobs.”

If it wasn’t an inside job, then how did an intruder get access to her room in the first place?

Several people also offered the Georgia woman advice on what to do next. “Call the police. Let’s normalize getting law enforcement involved so they can protect customers,” one woman suggested. Another shared a smart travel tip: “I travel with my Ring camera! I always plug it in and set it up facing the door. If someone enters, my Ring alerts me and records them!”

Someone else believed that another guest might have been responsible. “It’s definitely been tampered with. I manage two hotels, and I can tell a guest probably watched you leave the room and took the opportunity to go in for whatever reason. I’m so sorry this happened to you,” they wrote.

Whoever was behind it, the most important thing is that the woman is safe and far away from that hotel.
