An angry Karen in Lamont, California, apparently had an issue with a woman playing Mariachi music, despite the fact that she was hired to do so. Reportedly, she called the police on her, and while they did respond to the scene, they told the Mariachi lady to keep playing. The Karen, most likely, was furious.
The interaction, which was originally uploaded to TikTok with fitting Mariachi music, was shared by Alisson Cortes. The video shows Alisson wearing a charro outfit and a woman, the Karen, wearing a neck brace.
The two women are seen in a heated argument over Alisson’s music. Apparently, Alisson was hired outside a venue in Lamont, California, during Voting Day. According to her, the Karen started recording her and her fellow musicians as soon as they got to the venue, but there were no issues then. Things went south as she came out of the voting booth.
The argument is difficult to decipher, given how Alisson and the Karen talked over each other. However, at one point during the exchange, Jiman asked the woman if her music was bothering her.
“Yes, it does!” the woman vehemently responded. “It bothers most of the people that have come in there.”
While the video ended with an intelligible back-and-forth, according to Alisson, the police arrived later. However, the Mariachi band was not stopped or arrested.
“The cop literally laughed and told me go ahead and continue singing,” Alisson responded to a user asking about the incident.
Mariachi Celebrated, Users React
Many users mocked the triggered Karen, blasting her for getting mad over some innocent music. However, most people celebrated Alisson for standing up for herself and her culture, which was similarly praised.
“On behalf of the TikTok Tias! We’re so proud of you queen!!!!!” one user commented. Another one wrote, “She gave us outfit, she gave us culture, she gave us attitude YESSS QUEEN WE LOVE HER.” A third one added, “Good for you for standing up for not only yourself but also our culture, mija. Keep playing!“
We can only hope the California Karen learned a valuable lesson: don’t waste the police’s time.
