Being deployed can be one of the most challenging times in a service member’s career, as they must deal with the stresses of work and the strain of being away from home. Not to mention that anxiety intensifies if one’s family is left behind. That said, one deployed husband wishes to keep an eye on his wife and children in Florida by using a live-feed camera overlooking the driveway and front door. One day, he caught an unsuspecting visitor interacting with his wife, so he decided to intervene.
“Who is that out there flirting with my wife?” the military husband asked through the live camera’s speakers. The surprised wife and mysterious man quickly cleared things up for the husband watching the scene. The man was an Instacart delivery driver who’d just brought food to the house and was even nice enough to take the family’s trash out. He opened the rear passenger door of his car, revealing his wife sitting in the back as proof that he wasn’t some random person trying to hit on the military husband’s wife.
All in all, the interaction ended well, and many felt the whole scene was pretty wholesome. Clearly, many understood the husband to be joking with the Instacart driver, as he must have doubtless seen the man taking groceries to the door as well as taking out the trash. “Sounded like a joke to me. He just wanted to join the convo. He probably just misses home and wifey,” remarked a Redditor. “A good, healthy, wholesome interaction,” agrees another. “You can tell by the way the wife reacts and starts laughing immediately, this a woman who puts up with antics on the regular.”
However, not everyone considered that the deployed husband keeping tabs on the wife was as wholesome as others thought. “Seems creepy and controlling,” says one commenter. “Why on earth would Surveillance and lack of trust make anyone smile?” adds a second. To be fair, some people might have issue with another person, even a loved one, watching them through a security camera, so it makes sense to an extent. Still, it’s pretty clear that this interaction was nothing more than a wholesome husband poking fun at a deliveryman who was also quite the friendly individual himself.
