A children’s entertainer widely known as Ms. Rachel is facing backlash online after she made shocking claims about conditions inside a Texas ICE detention center during an appearance on The Beat on MSNBC. The YouTube star, whose real name is Rachel Griffin-Accurso, spoke about what she said she had heard from immigrant families held at a facility in Dilley, including reports of unsafe water, food contamination, and inadequate medical care.

Ms. Rachel, a children’s YouTube star, went on camera, falsely giving the impression that she visited immigrant families at the Dilley ICE facility and repeating wild claims about “worms in the food.”

In the interview, Ms. Rachel described what she had learned as heartbreaking, frightening, and shocking. She said, “[The families] are talking about water they can’t even drink that makes them sick. There’s been worms in the food, the food’s rotten sometimes, and what really frightens me is the dangerously inadequate medical care and medical emergencies.” She added that she was worried children detained with their families were being denied their “basic human rights” and should not be subjected to “harm” or “abuse.”

The popular educator said that this was not the direction the public should be heading. She also suggested that having more people become aware of what is allegedly going on in the detention facilities could “unite” many in protecting children in such situations.

Public Reaction to Her Claims

While some netizens praised Ms. Rachel for addressing the issue, writing comments such as, “Thank you for bringing these stories to light Ms Rachel,” and “These are CRIMES AGAINST CHILDREN & HUMANITY. someone MUST pay for the consequences starting at the top,” others dismissed her claims as false.

One person on X wrote, “Fraud!!!!! Complete scammer and grifter!!!” Another added, “I wonder if she is being paid to hate America or if it’s just natural for her.” A third said, “She’s a liberal grifter, hiding behind the face of love and happiness.”

Some also criticized her, saying she was a bad influence on children. “She is brainwashing children to hate law-abiding Americans,” one comment read. Another argued, “People like this, who have a direct link to growing children, need to be banned from pushing political rhetoric publicly.” Someone else claimed, “She doesn’t care about kids. She cares about money.”

Ms. Rachel has since started a petition to close down the Dilley ICE center, which currently has over 266,000 signatures.
