There is nothing more devastating than losing a loved one. When a friend loses their life, it’s difficult for a close-knit group to recover. Making new memories can feel like abandoning a loved one, and healing can take a long time. Luckily, one group of Florida besties stayed together through it all when their loved one passed away in 2001. Now, they make the sweetest ‘update’ video to share what’s changed since then. It’s a touching way to show that some friendships really withstand the test of time.
Tara (@tara_of_all_trades) shared a video of her and her two other friends making a special “update” video that both broke my heart and made me laugh. The three friends decided to “update” their friend Sarah, who passed away in 2001. They wanted to share what’s been happening in their lives over the years as a sweet gesture that would feel incredibly healing to them.
In the video, the friends laugh like teenagers as they update Sarah on some special events in their lives. They talk about how one of their friends got married and how Sarah’s friend got her nose pierced. One of the friends sweetly points out, “Every year, I still do a shot of Absolut and apple pucker for you, even though I don’t like it. I love you and still do it.”
You can tell the friends are so happy to have this sense of community and a way to include their friend in their lives. They sound like three girls at a sleepover, and it melts my heart that, even though so much has changed for them, some things will always remain the same. It’s that special friendship they have that will always be there. They share little stories about their marriages and let Sarah know that she’s with them every day. 25 long years have passed, but they’re still as close as ever. The friends show that they kept her folder full of poems this entire time. It’s enough to bring tears to your eyes. Everybody hopes for a friendship like this.
One commenter sweetly stated, “I love seeing proof that girlhood never dies.” Another person said, “Oh I just know Sarah is with ya’ll laughing, smiling happy ya’ll still keep her memories alive, her best friends for life.” They’re not about to let one of the biggest pieces of their friendship fade from their memories. I love that for them.
