There has been a lot of controversy surrounding Charlie Kirk, especially since his death. Many people have pointed out that his statements were hurtful to several communities, while his supporters often ignored or even agreed with those comments. That’s what motivated a Florida woman to take action. She visited the offices of Republican congress members and read Kirk’s controversial quotes aloud after noticing they displayed his picture. “We made a huge mistake when we passed the Civil Rights Act in the 1960s,” was the first quote she read. She made it clear to everyone present that she wasn’t adding anything to his words.
The Florida woman’s second quote was “Women should not work, but instead serve their husbands and raise children.” She then asked them to sit in silence with such a quote. Her confident tone did, in fact, make the members keep listening to her. The worst quote would probably be: “If my 10-year-old daughter were raped and became pregnant, I would not allow her to have an abortion.” She didn’t stop there; she then addressed the members and said, “You should look at me when I’m reading these to you.” Funny enough, one of the congress members claimed that he was taking notes. Taking notes of what? Kirk’s quotes are all over the internet.
“Let’s keep eye contact while I read you these uncomfortable quotes from the guy you idolize,” the woman continued. She added more quotes, including one shaming women past their 30s. This made her sarcastically say, “How old is Erica Kirk, the widow? Is she staying at home? Doesn’t sound like it. Maybe she’s with JD Vance.” Another quote was “Abortion is our modern Holocaust.” Her sarcasm continued as she asked, “It’s a great guy, right? It’s a great man to idolize. To put on every other Republican door in our state capital.” At the end, those members didn’t care at all, because the first thing one of them said after the woman finished was, “My favorite thing I ever say of Charlie Kirk,” before the video ended.
People Reacting to the Florida Woman Confronting Congress Members
Many people appreciated what the Florida woman did, despite the lack of response from Republican congressional members. This is why one person said, “They are very aware. They don’t care.” Another person wrote, “they have those views because they don’t have empathy. They are selfish, terrible people who only seek control and power and only think of themselves.” One woman also commented on how Kirk is being viewed despite his occupation. “Charlie kirk was a PODCASTER. A [expletive] podcaster. That is IT,” she said. Other comments mocked Kirk’s death.
More people shared their opinions about the Florida woman’s words. Someone shared how people can idolize Kirk without really knowing him. “My stepdaughter claimed to be an idolizer of Charlie Kirk because her dad worships him. I read her some of these quotes and she burst into tears. After her mom and I consoled her, I told her this is why it’s important to think for yourself,” they wrote. Of course, comments supported Kirk and claimed that all these quotes weren’t bad and that they had been taken out of context. Despite the rape quote, one supporter said, “Charlie was right about EVERYTHING she just read. EVERYTHING‼” One thing is certain: Kirk will always cause debate.
