I would have been terrified

When you’ve had a long day, the only thing you want is to go home and relax. Unfortunately for one California woman, that wasn’t an option. Her neighbor recorded the shocking surprise she walked into a giant hole in her ceiling.

It didn’t take long to figure out what caused it. A family of raccoons had made their way into her apartment. At first, only two were visible, which might not alarm some people. Still, the situation quickly shifted from mildly scary to genuinely terrifying when it became clear that one of them was a mother raccoon. And she was not happy.

The mother kept hissing aggressively at the woman, who couldn’t even step inside her own home without feeling threatened. After calling animal control, she was told to contact the police instead, leaving her no choice but to escalate the situation for her own safety.

Imagine getting home after a long day and you see a hole in your ceiling then you find 2 raccoons in your apartment and get cornered in by this over protective mama that keeps hissing at you and is full on attack mode so you gotta call 911 cause animal control said so now the popo get here and we discover there is a 3rd baby raccoon and so they call the animal control emergency line to remove these rodents and once she thinks she’s done there’s ANOTHER baby in there so that’s a total of 4 raccoons inside… Jesus Christ I almost had a stroke and it wasn’t even my apartment. IM SHOOKETH 🥲 #unexpectedvisitors #raccoons #storytime #caughtoncamera #fyp

In the short video posted by the California woman, you can see two police officers standing inside the apartment. Despite being the ones with guns, they were definitely afraid. One of the raccoons must have charged at them because they immediately shoved each other out of the doorway in a panic.

They soon discovered a third raccoon, which meant it was definitely time for animal control to take over. When animal control arrived, the woman who showed up was incredibly brave. She was filmed holding one of the raccoons with what looked like a catch pole. The raccoon was struggling hard, but she still managed to secure it and gently place it into a cage. If that were me, I would have dropped the pole the second that little creature moved.

The video continued, and honestly, you can’t blame the officers for running after seeing the next part. With the apartment door closed, you can see a very angry raccoon repeatedly charging at it. Meanwhile, a loud hissing sound echoed through the hallway. These raccoons were not happy about being removed.

By the end of the video, all of the raccoons had been captured and placed safely in cages. The hissing finally stopped, and everything calmed down. Hopefully, the California woman will never have to deal with another surprise like this again and the raccoons will be relocated somewhere safer where they can live without all the chaos.

People Reacting to the California Woman’s Video

People were absolutely shocked after seeing the raccoons inside the California woman’s apartment. Finding such a surprise at home made one woman say, “I’m breaking that lease immediately.” I would have done the same. Another person joked, “They acting like they pay rent.” Many comments also mocked the police for being scared as someone wrote, “Not the police being scared of a raccoon.” This made one TikTok user defend them and say, “Wild animals = rabies possibly btw they’re scared of contracting a lingering virus that ultimately kills you if left untreated.” Another person replied, “Obviously and the hissing mainly the hissing.” Many agreed with this because one woman commented, “The hissing is scary.”

Several commenters actually sympathized with the raccoons inside the California woman’s apartment. “Poor babies are just scared,” one person wrote. Others focused on how brave the female animal control officer was. “That girl cop wasn’t playing,” one woman said. Another agreed and added, “Poor babies, but dang she tough. Not sure if that was the cop or animal control, but she was not playing.”

Many commenters also admitted they would have abandoned the apartment immediately. One person said, “Child, that house would have instantly become the raccoons’ house. No ma’am!” Someone else added, “They can keep the house. I’ll give myself an eviction notice.”

Honestly, with four raccoons and an angry raccoon mom involved, who could blame them?
