Incidents of racism continue to surface across the country, and more people are now recording and sharing these encounters to expose the behavior. One recent example comes from California, where a White man allegedly harassed a Black couple simply because they were with a White child. According to the wife, it was the first time she had faced this kind of racism in the Bay Area. She said the man followed them in his car while hurling offensive remarks, including questioning the husband: “Why are you holding his hand? Are you his dad? He’s a White child.” The man allegedly escalated his accusations, suggesting the couple was “slaving” the boy, and even attempted to speak directly to their two-and-a-half-year-old.
In the video recorded by the wife, the man can first be seen sitting inside his car while she captures his license plate. He then steps out as she repeatedly tells him to leave and warns that she will make him famous. The husband stands nearby and shows the man something on his phone, likely photos of them with the White child. The man then crosses a line, asking, “Who is his dad?” and continuing with even more offensive remarks: “Are you slaving him? Are you raping him?” Shockingly, he directs these accusations in front of the child, targeting the couple solely because they are Black. The wife responds firmly while continuing to film: “You have a [expletive] dirty mind. Shut the [expletive] up.” Such thoughts and behavior are deeply disturbing and wholly unacceptable.
People Reacting to the California Man’s Racism
Almost everyone found the California man’s racism and what he said to be disgusting. This made them encourage the couple to contact the police, as one person wrote, “File a police report for hate crime !” The guy turned out to be quite popular, too, since several individuals claimed that they knew him. Someone shared that they would be looking for him as they said, “Exactly!!!! I remember those eyes too! Come back if u find out! I’ll be showing everyone his license plate, picture and tattoos on his hand. I’ll be back.” Another person also wrote, “He used to work at Whole Foods on Gilman he was one of our cowerkers! After coming back from a trip he started to bug out idk what happened on his trip out the country but they fired him I again will ask his name and figure it out for you.”
Since this situation happened in Berkeley, California, several comments said that the area has a lot of racist people. “Berkeley is actually super dangerous for people of color. Been that way since 2012,” one person wrote. Another person blamed this behavior on the current administration, as they said, “Trumps America.” Others advised the couple to look after themselves as one comment read, “Pls be safe and get a pepper spray.” Someone else then wrote, “that’s disgusting i’m so sorry you had to deal with that.” Hopefully, he will be found and held responsible.
